Question about Microwave Ovens
I have an Emerson MW8999SB it still has power. It started to be difficult to press numbers, but when you got the buttons to work it would heat. The code DEF1 popped up a few times, and now none of the buttons are working.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Okay, thank you for that.
You have a failed membrane keypad, but on this model, it is not available separately.
You would need to order the control panel assembly, part # WB56X10817, which you can get here for far less than GE charges.
It costs more than just a membrane would, but is much simpler to replace.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
Then you remove your circuit board from the old frame and install it in the new frame.
We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

A hard reset, that is, removing the unit from the electric source and restarting it after a few seconds, solved the problem.
