If you can remove the bowl without removing the carb from the engine, take it off and clean it well in some fresh gas with a toothbrush. Then, get a can of carburetor cleaner and spray it up into the small tube under the carburetor and through any small holes in the tube either on the sides or the bolt that holds the bowl on, or both. It should then run on new FRESH gas. If you have gas older than a month, put it in your car and get fresh gas for the blower

There is a BRASS the bottom of the bowl; very carefully unscrew the it and remove the bowl. Clean out the bowl with a clean rag.
Use brake cleaner and spray the carb and the components that you can see. DON'T put the nozzle of the spray can to claose tot he carb. There are delicate parts in the carb.

How do I clean the carborator?

Remove carb from mower. Use carb cleaner and small acid brush to clean outside of carb. Remove bowl from bottom of carb. Clean bowl. Observe bolt that held carb bowl to carb, see if it has a hole or holes thru it. Clean out holes with bread wrapper wire with about 1in of wire. Test float, float down fuel flow, float up fuel stops. Use bread wrapper to clean center port of carb from bottom up thru carb body. Remove float pin float and meter needle, use bread wrapper to clean meter needle passage up thru carb body. Re-assemble carb.

I have 1990 harley flhs ..model flt 1340cc..when choke on bike runs and revs up ..take choke off bike idels but wont rev up back fires n pops..i cleaned carb and it getting gas to carb..

It sounds like the jets in your carb are stopped up. It could be any one of several things but the problem is in the carb. Cleaning the outside of the carb makes no difference, you must remove and clean out the main jet and the slow speed jet. Also you need to check the operation of the accelerator pump. Even spraying carb cleaner inside the venturi of the carb does no good, the carb needs to be completely disassembled and cleaned. To be more specific, I'd need to know exactly which carb is on the bike, keihen butterfly, keihen CV, or aftermarket.

It acts like it is flooded, starts with choke off and throttle depressed. runs until carb runs out of gas then dies

Yes, Your carburetor sounds like it needs cleaned. Or you may possibly need to purchase a carb. kit for your trimmer if the cleaning doesn't do any good. When cleaning the carb. use a Den Tek Brush, (teeth cleaning brush), to clean the small ports. Also, check the small screen in carb. Can get clogged easily.

Cleaning the carbs

1st-take off fairings & tank, seat, take carbs off. drain fuel, & turn over on bench. take bowls off.disassemble jets & floats in each carb, do not mix components from each carb.soak in carb cleaner until clean, & no obstructions in jets. soak bowls also.squirt through carb. air & fuel circuits w/ spray carb. cleaner.when everything is cleaned, reassemble carbs. check carb. float needles for leaks. if all ok ,install carbs on using remote fuel supply bottle, hook up to carb set.start bike & warm it up,now synchronize carb. set w/ vacuum guage set.reassemble tank, seat, and fairings. note:this really is not a job for the novice w/o competent supervision, a service manual is recommended before beginning.

The carb is not receiving gas flow

Get a rebuild kit for carb, also take it apart and clean everything. Also make sure the airfilter is clean and not dirty and clogged up.
