New batteries but camera won't stay on

Don't forget to charge the batteries.
Do not use alkaline batteries unless it is absolutely necessary. In some cases, alkaline batteries may have a shorter service life than NiMH. Alkaline battery performance is limited, especially at low temperatures. The use of NiMH batteries is recommended. Never use manganese (Zinc-Carbon) batteries in your camera.
And take care closing the battery door correct. If anything is obstructing the door, or the switch telling the battery door is closed, the camera won't work. Never open the battery / memory card door, when the camera is still accessing the memory. (indicated with the green light on the back of the camera, because it can damage the file system on the memory card)

I keep getting the message "battery exhausted" on my Nikon Coolpix L22 camera even when I've replaced with new alkaline batteries. They are not rechargeable batteries though. I've tried...

Try rechargeables anyway just in case.Sometimes with age these cameras don't work well with alkalines. If that still doesn't work then I would suggest contacting your local Nikon authorized service center.

I have a HP camera CW450t camera and cannot turn it on with the power button on top. I know the batteries are good because I can turn on the camera with the review button and review the pictures that I...

Had the EXACT same problem with the CW450 model. I called support because I was mad and wanted it replaced. The support tech helped me through the issue. The answer is- NiMH. Alkaline batteries are unstable and not powerful enough for use with this camera even though the camera supports it. He asked me what I was using and I told him Alkaline. He said try some NiMH right now- by dumb luck, I had a charger in the wall with nickel batteries. This is what he had me do:
Put the NiMH batteries in. Take out your SD card. Turn on your camera. Go to options and go to memory kit and format. Go to options and do a factory reset by selecting Reset All. Turn off the camera. Put your memory card back in. Turn it back on and go crazy with it trying to take video and pictures.
I have been messing with it for an hour now and it works perfectly. He told me to test it for at least 2 days and if it still malfunctions they will send me a new one. If the fix I shared with you didn't work call them up and work with them. 1-866-694-7633 if you are under warranty they will replace it for you.

I have put fresh batteries in my Canon Power Shot S1 camera and it still will not come on? Can you help me?

Contact failures may have occurred between the camera and the batteries.

Confirming that the [Memory Card / Battery Cover] is securely closed

If the [Memory Card / Battery Cover] is not securely closed, the power of the camera may not turn on.

Close the [Memory Card / Battery Cover] securely, and then turn the power on.

Clean the battery terminals with a dry cotton swab that has a fine and soft tip, and then re-insert the batteries.

If your camera uses four AA-size alkaline batteries supplied with the camera, follow the procedure below. In addition to Alkaline batteries you may use optional nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries.

1. Be sure that the camera power is off.

2. Slide the battery cover lock in the direction of the arrow, and push the battery cover slightly forward. Then open the cover.

I had the same issue...turned out to be the batteries not making contact... change the battery manufacturer to a known maker. The off brand stuff has dimension problems.

Dimagez3 Battery Options

Hey bray598,
According to the manufacturer this camera comes with AA alkaline batteries so unless you bought defective batteries the ones you purchased should work fine. I would make sure the batteries are inserted properly, and make sure when you turn it on the battery cover and/or the memory card cover are closed. I hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Allan

My camer won't turn on

Does the lense extend when you power it on in "snapshot"mode?
Could be the switch is sticking. These cameras use concave cup button that mash on gold foil on the circuit board. Could be a bad switch. $$$$$ costly.
Interested in selling it?

The camera will not power up with new batteries installed.

This happened to me too. I did some research and if you were using anything other than alkaline or NIMH batteries (I was using Nicd rechargables) it will fry the circuit board. That's Sony's way of making sure you use their rechargable batteries only (or buying costly alkaline). Our cameras are fried. Time for a new one.

Sony camera turning itself off...

You can't use regular alkaline batteries in this camera. Alkaline batteries only supply 1.5 volts. The camera uses 2 in series for a total of 3.0 volts from alkaline. However, the camera requires 4.2 volts to operate correctly. This camera has high power requirements, so you'll need high end lithium or nickel hydride batteries that can supply the higher voltage and current this camera requires. It's a power hog, and regular alkaline batteries are too weak to run it. The menus will work on alkaline, but once you try to turn the camera on in capture mode to take a shot, the current requirements to operate the camera motor, LCD, zoom, memory stick, etc, all it once is too great a draw for alkaline to handle. Either use the external power supply, or get Lithium batteries. Make sure the batteries you get are 2.4 volts and not 1.5 volts. Get the ones with the highest current rating you can find.
