This type of fault is not a DIY project. You will need to take it to a Sony repair centre. I suggest you get a quote as it may be too expensive to repair and it may be better to put your money towards a new and better camera.

My nikon cool pix has a white line the screen?

Hello Bettylue.

If the line is permanant it is a fault with the lcd screen. If the line shows in the pictures displayed on a different screen the fault is with the lens or other component. LCD screens can be replaced quite easily and have come down in price a lot in the last few years. If you are somewhat handy and feel comfortable opening the camera a little web searching may allow you to do the repair. If you can live with the line and it doesn't show on the pics it will probably last quite a while as it is.

I hope this is of some help... Dale

On switching on, screen displays "Lens Error", then switches off!

Your camera needs a repair.

An Out of Warranty repair for this model for this fault is about 48 pounds + shipping. KODAK also offers a Trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.
In order to arrange your repair/Trade up: Contact KODAK:

Zoom stuck, and loose ring of plastic in the lens... help

Your lens is totally beyond economic repair, sorry. I've looked into repairing the same fault on this lens before. It's only the basic kit lens as supplied with the camera so it was built with low cost as an overriding primary concern and no real thought for future repairs or spares availability.

The good news is that there are normally a fair number of these lenses both used and brand new at relatively low prices. many owners sell the kit version to upgrade to a better lens and many retailers often have new unboxed (usually ex-display) kit lenses for around 30% less than the new and boxed versions.

No images but records sound

To start ensure that you removed the cover from the lens.
Also remove battery and put it back in place to reset the camcorder.

If you get only sound on playback, connect the camera to a computer or TV, or play the tape on a different camera. If you get picture in there, then the camcorder is recording, but the video playback does not work because of a faulty LCD display.
If when you play back the movie on a different camera, or using the compute you still get no picture then the camcorder is faulty.
Faults that can cause black screen can be:
Lens problem. Faulty CCD sensor. Faulty controller board.
All this faults are not easy to diagnose and fix, if there is a fault , then it is better to take the camera to a repair shop.

JVC has acknowledged a fault on their side that will cause certain models to display the "lens cap" error, and they offer free repairs, your model is also on the list. Here's a link to the JVC site : http://www.jvcservice.com/service/custnoticecamcorder.asp?ReqType=CCD hope this helped ;]
