Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer
Acts like there may be a broken belt
Do you hear the drive motor running? Most likely not I work on these machines all day every day, and have since before Maytag introduced their first Mah 4000. I have yet to se a belt break. although if your bearings are worn out it may be possible for the belt to slip off of the pulleys. If this is the case you should have been able to tell this because it would be extremely loud during spin. If not chances are good that the door latch/lock mechanism is the culprit. I would start here. Remove the top and bottom front panels and look for the tech sheet. It will guide you through the diagnosis problem. Please be careful though and only preform procedures you are comfortable with. Follow the tech sheet to the letter. If it says unplug the washer. unplug the washer.
