Kenmore Elite refridgerator

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to clean the coils underneath the fridge? I have used an attachment on the vacuum, but it does not reach the coils toward the middle-to-back half of the unit.

The best way it to buy a coil brush and use your vacuum as you clean. A coil brush is long and skinny and can be bent to reach in tough spots. Some people will blow it out with an air compressor but it is very messy.

Short of having a long, thin spiral coil-cleaning brush, you can improvise a cleaning device. Wrap several damp paper towels around the handle of a mop or broom (If you can find a pole that's thinner and more flexible, use it); secure in place with a rubber band. Remove your front grill from the fridge -- along the bottom (a good, even tug should do it). Get down level with the bottom of the fridge so you can see inside and gently maneuver the pole along the coils. (Put down a mat or towel and just lie on the floor. Seriously.) Change the paper towels as they get too dirty to pick up. Do this once a year, or more if you have pets as dust and hair can not only affect operation but reduce energy efficiency as well.

Newer refrig. Run almost continuous but you could try cleaning the condenser coils, located on back with vacuum and brush also place thermometers in freezer and mid level refrigerator, freezer should run 0 to -8 F and refrigerator 34-37 F. If much lower adj. thermostat up.

Maintaining your refridgerator for longer life

You should clean the back of the refridgerator and vacum it at least one a year, pull it out and clean under it and vacum the back of it, then pull off the cover on the front bottom of the fridge if the coil are underneath, purchase an appliance brush for refridgerators at any hardware store, there not expensive and clean the coils under the fridge, clean in between the black coils and pull out the dust and dirt, then vacum once you get out what you can with the brush, this needs to be done at least once a year for the best perfomance for your fridge and longer life of it......unplug the fridge before you start, the cleaner the coils the cooler the fridge will be and also will use less energy to run......when its dirty it has to work very hard to cool........make sure you unplug the fridge before you start.......hope this helps......

You can purchase several different attachments/brushes specifically designed for hard-to-get-at coils, as well as a soft brush, at your favorite store.

What is wrong with Kenmore Elite 795.75192400?

dear Bill if its a no frost refigerator sounds like you might have to take all the drwars out unscrew or detach the back plate and defrost the fridge manually and then unblock the drain hole which goes to the back of the fridge into a plastick container ontop of the compressor which in turn will evaporate from the heat of the compressor . Hope this does the trick .. good luck. Tony

Freezer is freezing, but ice box is not cold. Told to clean fan. Where is the fan located?

Remove the grill along the bottom of your refrigerator. Locate the drip pan, using a flashlight if necessary. The pan should be sitting on a set of black condenser coils.
Remove the pan and wash it. Use a mixture of warm, soapy water and bleach to kill the mold.
Reinstall the pan and the grill.
Locate the coils. They look like thin, black radiators and may be underneath the fridge or attached to the back.
If the coils are on the back, pull the refrigerator away from the wall, then vacuum the dusty coils, using the brush and crevice attachments. Reinstall the refrigerator grill.
If the coils are underneath, pull off the grill and remove the drip pan. Vacuum the dusty coils, using the crevice attachment to get between them. Take care not to damage the delicate coils. Reinstall the refrigerator grill.

Bottom of refrigerator not getting cold enough, freezer is working fine, - Magic Chef -model MCBR1000w

have you cleaned out the coils underneath the fridge? it's very simple. pull the fridge out, look underneath(try pulling off the bottom grill from the front for more access), and start cleaning. to much dust and lint will hinder the coils from cooling. A vacuum with the brush attachment or little broom works good.
