Then I'd say it's not the fan, test the defrost heater element.

My Kitchenaid refrigerator KSSC48QMS is humming and cuttung on and off. ????? the lightz blknk when you open the door?

First of all the flashing lights on the panel indicate a problem with the communication between the board and the evap fan motor. Now I would have a certified service person repair this as it will require the control board that needs to be sent in for repair and a fan replacement. Both part need to be replaced at the same time or this issue will not be corrected properly. Your fan has failed and took out the control board is what happened. Evap Fan motor part number is W10255195 and the control Board part number is 2252159, the board is fixable and would need to be removed to be sent out to repair (2 weeks down time is normal). The company who repairs the board is Corecentric Solutions 866-737-2244 or Rough estimate to repair is 175.00 board including shipping, fan motor about 100.00 or so and the labor to change parts as some installation of the units are difficult to change parts inside a closed cabinet, some units have to be removed to access control board in top of the unit. I hope this helped, I own this model and repair these units as well. Good Luck

Evap fans not working replaced both fans and main board still not working model #rf217abrs
I checked this wiring diagram and could not see any sensor that would control the fans. there are many units that will keep the fans off till a certain temp is reached so as to not circulate warm air after a defrost. you may have a bad sensor?

Freezer flashing E Refrigerator flashing F what does this mean????

The code "E - F" is related to evaporator fan motor. You have a bad evap fan. This is the fan that is behind the back panel INSIDE the freezer.

This code is for the evaporator fan motor but it could also be due to a defective main board. If the fan motor in the freezer is still running, disconnect power to the refrigerator for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. This resets the board. If the code disappears and the motor is still running, it may be ok now but if the code reappears, the board will need to be replaced. If the motor is not running, some voltage checks will need to be made at the motor and at the board.------------The EF error code indicates a problem has been detected with the freezer fan motor (evaporator fan). This type of symptom could be caused by the fan motor stalled out on some type of obstruction, defective fan motor, faulty wiring or the main control board.

you can get required parts from sears part direct online site or from site.---------

This should help.Thanks,.Helpmech.

No cooling or compressor operation

Compressor and evap fan cycling are controlled by a circuit board as well as the defrost. It is all in serie - once your defrost kicks in contact is cut from the evap fan and compressor - once defrost is finished the switch reverts back to normal operation and your evap fan & compressor turns on.

Most common causes of this issue is either a defrost timer fault or control board (burnt resistor or bad board).

Inspecting and changing the control board will usually fix the issue - if your evap fan comes on after changing the board but not the compressor then you have a bad compressor.

If you have one of those units like some whirlpool/Kenmore/Inglis that have electronic controls in the refrigerator section, this is the board that controls the thermostat and compressor on/off cycling. The board behind your freezer is also connected to the board in your fridge, this one controls the defrost.

Refrigerator has a clicking sound and does not run

Replace the motherboard (part # WR55X10942) but be careful to check that the evaporator fan (inside the freezer) turns on when you power up the refrig again. A bad evaporator fan motor can take out the motherboard. If compressor starts with new board but not evap fan, unplug immeadiatelly and replace the evap fan motor to save new board.

Evap fan stops running/low cooling, Unplug Frig Evap fan runs

Is there anything obstructing the fan area, ice build up ? It is normal for your freezer to get warm if evap fan is not working, it is essential for it to work :) A defrost cycle should kick on a timer or as needed (adaptive) and there should not be excessive frost buildup that it blocks your evap fan. I would have suggested you unplug your refrigerator for about 10 minutes and see if that resets your control board - if not, then you will need service - either replacing motor assembly or a faulty control board.

Evap. fan motor stays on

Sounds like the control board is bad. Does the fan try to run when the tstat is off. Did you check the tstat. What kind of voltage are you getting at the fan motor. Did you check the capacitor. If you are getting voltage to the motor with no call for fan then the control board is bad. Let me know if you need any more.

Kenmore 253.4450960 keeps flashing E F at panel on fridge side; also alot of ice build-up in freezer.

Shut down your refrigerator and unplug it for a few minutes - plug it back in and turn back on to see if it resets your control board - if problem persists you may have to get it serviced and have them check the control board, evap fan and defrost timer. there should be no frost build up in your freezer, if your unit is a frost free, auto defrost, it should go through a defrost cycle. maybe your evap fan is plugged up with ice buildup or if your evap fan is working properly, a control board issue.

Evap. blower motor not running.

You have a bad main control board . Usually on HSS models , when one of the fans don't work , its due to burnt resistors on the board (not the motor) . only way to fix , is replace the board .Patr # WR55X10656

Refrigerator stops getting cold

you either have a defrost problem or your main control board is going out. When you opened the unit was the whole evap frozen or just the top by the fan if the whole evap. was then it is a defrost problem if nt the control board will have to be replaced part # WR55X10552
