I think I have one for you....

1. Go to Control Panel ---> Sounds and Audio Devices.
2. Click on the Audio tab.
3. In Sound Playback, under Default device select the 'SPDIF Interface' or Digital option.
4. You should be able to hear the sound from TV.

There is a row of Function keys at the top of the keyboard on every Toshiba notebook. These give you quick access to some useful functions. To activate them, just press the FN button on the keyboard together with the function key to activate the following commands.

I have an NEC projector and I'm Having difficulties connecting it to laptop. It's not picking any signal up. I have a vga to hdmi cable. Very little knowledge about this so any help would be great.

On the laptop there should be function keys that control the display. Look at those and see if it is F4 or F5 and then use the FN key to change the display mode.

I want to connect my Hp i5 laptop to sanyo LCD via HDMI please help me

all you have to do is plug it into a HDMI port switch the TV source to that HDMI port and plug it into your laptop. It may not work until you hit the FN key and the F4 key (at the same time). the FN+F4 key switches between laptop screen and your other source (TV in this case) and you should be able to choose to use both at the same time

How do I hook a an external monitor up to a hp dv6 1355 with a cracked screen?

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=4043282&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

Product information > Product specifications > Product specifications;

External Ports:
1 VGA (15-pin)

Manuals > Notebook Tour - Windows 7;

Left-side Components - External Monitor Port
Left/Rear side of laptop,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

You can use a CRT type of monitor (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor if it has a VGA cable.

(You can also use an HDTV if it has an HDMI port, and you have an HDMI cable. The HDMI port is on the Left side of the laptop, too.

{Don't buy an HDMI cable that is expensive. Just a waste of money.
Those gold plated parts are just a little bit better, than an HDMI cable that doesn't have it. $20 for an HDMI cable is PLENTY. (12 Feet) I use one's that cost less )

A) Laptop OFF, monitor (External display device) OFF.
Connect the VGA monitor to the VGA port, on the laptop.

Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type allow it to warm up.
Turn the laptop on.

There ARE at least 3 display options available;

1) Internal monitor ONLY
2) Internal monitor AND external display device (VGA monitor in this example)
3) External display device ONLY

Press, and hold the Fn key down, tap once on the F4 key.
(The F4 key is the Display Toggle-Over key)

Wait a few seconds.
Still no?
Hold the Fn key down again, and tap once more on the F4 key.

I would like you to tell witch keys i should used to get hp pavilion dv9000 pc lobtop screen to display on a samsung plasma monitor

I'm assuming you are connecting the laptop to the plasma screen with an HDMI cable. If you have done so, then have both the TV and laptop turned on. Log into the laptop with an account. After you have logged in, you can press the function key (Fn) and usually its F4 (the key has a picture of a square, this represents the external display connection) at the same time. The plasma tv should display what is on the laptop.
So, Fn + F4 should work.

I have connected my pc to my hdmi toshiba tv. I have my computer connected to my screen for 2 years but now sometimes the tv doesn't show the pc screen when I switch back to hdmi. It happens when the pc...

Hello apostolos,

If you are using the powersave (monitor off) feature, the video signal to the TV is switched off and it may not be picking this up again automatically. This can also happen if you switch the TV off. In either of these situations, you should be able to switch the TV display for the PC on again by holding down the FN key on your PC keyboard and pressing F5 once.

This key combination is standard on most PCs for switching an external monitor on and off but on some PCs it may also be F4. If neither of these are correct, look for an icon of a monitor on one of the function keys on the top row of yourkeyboard - or use the "Display Settings" or "Monitors" Control Panel (depending on OS) for switching external monitors on and off.

You may need to press F5 a couple of times while still holding down FN key to get the monitor configuration you require, e.g. PC monitor off and TV on, or both on.

If you are using an animated screensaver, the TV should not be losing the signal from the PC, but this can still happen if the TV is switched to standby or off.

If you can't get the TV to pick up the signal from the PC using the FN + F5/F4 combination, it might be a good idea to reset the TV to factory defaults and run the TV setup again.

Hope this helps. If you need any further assistance with this problem or instructions on re-setting your TV to factory defaults, please reply to me from within this page.

BElectric

Do I need to do anything to my CQ60 to ensure the signal is leaving the Hdmi port to the TV? The TV is not responding.

You need to go into the graphics control and set your computer to use the tv as a display. There should be a shortcut key by pressing "FN" along with the "F key with what looks like two monitors separated by a / mark". Mine is F4, but yours may be different.

Which function key allows to switch to tv

Hi there,
You need to press hold the FN key and press the F4 function key once which toggles the display to the External Display source like the television connected along with the LCD of the Notebook.
If the FN and F4 key combination is pressed again, the display will dissappear from the LCD of the Notebook and remain only on the external source.
If the FN and F4 key combination is pressed third time, the display will be back on the LCD of the Notebook and will not remain on the External display source.
Here are these details in other way :
First time pressing FN + F4    ---> Display on LCD and External display
Second time pressing FN + F4 ---> Display not on LCD but on the External Display
Third time pressing FN + F4 ---> Display back on the LCD and not available on External Display (Normal position).

Hooking up my hp laptop to a sony trinitron tv

Hello,

Let me explain on how to connect the TV to HP notebook.

There are two ways to connect the TV to the notebook. One is with the S-Video cable and another one is HDMI cable. (If you computer had HDMI port)

Connecting notebook and TV with S-video cable:

You need to get the Svideo cable and connect it to the notebook Svideo port to TV Svideo port and press Fn+ F4 to get the notebook display on the TV.

For the first time pressing the Fn+F4 keys, you will get the display on the TV and there will be no display on the Notebook.

If you press the Fn+F4 for second time, you will get display back to the notebook and Tv screen becomes blank.

By pressing the same keys again will show the display on both the screen.

Samething connecting with the HDMI cable, if your computer had HDMI port.

If you won't get the display on the external screen even after following the correct process, then once you need to reinstall the display driver.

If the issue persists, then you have to check with another cable.

Note: No need to install any software on the notebook to connect the TV to the notebook.
