    Go to menu > set-up > box settings and then change the TV Guide type to the Freeview 8 day guide.

How to repair my vcr I have a faulty tape in the machine and unable to remove it

I hope your vcr is not built in with TV. It is separate from TV. If it is not then you have to call a technician to open the vcr and remove the faulty tape. If it is separate then open the top cover by unscrewing the screws on the side. These can be located very easily. Remove the top cover gently. Look for the gear toothed wheels which load/eject the tape. You can do so by switching the power button on and off. Switch of the power to vcr. Move the toothed wheels by hand to bring the tape up if you do not want the tape to get damaged. When the tape comes up then give it a gentle push so that it can eject itself. If not, repeat the process again. If you see the magnetic tape is stuck or entangled with moving wheel the cut it,remove it gently. Make sure that you do not touch or damage the video head. Once removed, you can fix the top cover.

Do have an idiots guide as to how to wire up the SR-4200 to a TV

I will interperate this as:
"So you want to play sound through your Marantz SR-4200?"

You need to clarify what sort of system setup you have, however i will put down a few ways to wire this up to your TV.

If you have a Set-top-box that gets the TV Channels, that is where the sound comes from. If you have a TV that plugs straight into the wall, you will have to get the sound from the TV. Grab a RCA Stereo cable - (White and Red heads, if you don't know what they look like, Google it).

If you are unclear about this, i have tried to make a diagram down the bottom to explain how this is to work. What you will do is Take the sound from the Set-Top-Box or TV and reroute it into your fantastic Marantz SR-4200.

1. Plug Red Plug into the the Red Slot, and White into the White on the back of your set-top-box or TV Out (if you get it around the wrong way, the speakers will be reversed.)

2. Plug the other end of the cable into the back of your Marantz SR-4200 in the TAPE input or VHS input as they are analog signal inputs. Turn on Marantz SR-4200 and turn it onto Tape or Vhs (depending on where you plugged it in).

[Set-Top-Box or TV out] >-------> into >------> [Marantz SR-4200]

If you still don't get it, then try searching You-Tube for a guide "Plug Tv into Stereo". I myself couldn't turn up anything useful

I have a broken VHS cassette.

You can remove the 4 or 5 screws at the bottom of the tape, turn the tape over CAREFULLY pull the top off. If the tape pulled out of the end of 1 spool, you have to remove the clip in the tape hub, reinsert the tape and snap the clip back in. Holding the tape door open so as not to catch tape, put top back on and replace screws. Hope this helps.

Audio recording not very loud in play back

You may have a tape alignment issue, but, before you try anything rash, have the "control head assembly" cleaned. If you're not squeamish about opening this, you can then load a tape and look to see if the very top edge of the tape is "curled" over anywhere from .5" or greater. If this is the case, you'll need to fix what's causing that before you can do anything else....accordianman
