If your not getting enough fuel to the cylinders, start with the obvious from the fuel tank forward... 1- make sure the is fuel... Top up tank. 2-change fuel filter (with John Deere clear plastic filter) that way you can physically see the fuel in the filter. 3. Fuel pump, and hoses... Pull off the hose going to the carburetor from the fuel pump, so that it disconnected from the fuel pump side only.. Get a container of fuel put the hose pump hose in the container of fuel, get some to crank over the tractor and see if it starts / draws up the fuel out of the container... If the tractor starts you could have a faulty fuel pump, or fuel lines... Or the small hose connected to the crankcase could be disconnected.. 4. Open the bowl on the carb, see if there's fuel present, and if there's any debris, if so maybe theirs something blocking the fuel from the needle and seat, (also gentle move the needle and seat open and close to ensure the needle is not seized.

It will start but dies when I give it gas, what will cause that?

Hi Jeremy:
Opening the throttle will allow more air into the Carb.
If there is not enough gas available, that will lean the engine out and it will die.
I would recommend that you start you trouble shoot by draining and cleaning the carb, gas tank and fuel filter. Start over with fresh fuel. If the problem persists I would remove the carb and clean it carefully with compressed air, then try again.
If tat does not cure it, Reply as a comment to this post and we'll try some more.
Cheerfuls.

Why is fuel not getting to spark plug on my yamaha raptor 50cc?

Could be the carb float has come off and not letting any gas into the carb bowl? Could be a plug in the gas line or the inlet in the gas tank which usually has a screen on it is filthy and needs to be cleaned. I\'d throw in a clear inline gas filter so you can actually see gas going through the line. They\'re cheap enough and the filer will help keep any crap from getting through to the carb. If your jets in the carb are plugged then you won\'t get getting any gas through the carb. So you need to see where the issue is. Is it a gas tank fuel plug, or a carb fuel plug. Make sure the gas is getting to the carb, then make sure the carb isn\'t plugged which will require you taking the carb off and looking through the gets which can be unscrewed. Jets are inside the carb and if you take the bowl off the carb you will usually find them. Take the get out, look through it into a ligh and if you can see light through the jet, it\'s ok. If you can\'t see light, then the jet is probably plugged. I use an old guitar string to slide through the jet hole to unplug it which works pretty well because they are small enough to do so. Clean the carb with carb cleaner and make sure it\'s good and clean before reassembling.

I Have a Ryobi Trimmer. I cleaned out the carb and put it back together but forgot the High and Low needle settings. I have got it to start but am having trouble tuning it. I have put a carb kit in it and...

adjust the needles both all the way in until they stops. unscrew both 1 1/2 turns and start engine. slowly accelerate and if it bogs down unscrew the HIGH SLOWLY until full speed is gain. some times you have to unscrew a little the low speed too. is a matter of playing with it. be patient you will get it. if you are still having problems you may have to take the bottom of carb. out and make sure the gas inlet needle is letting pass gas into the carb. chamber.

Having trouble getting my 1997 honda cr 125 to start have tryed new spark plug n there is spark the motor is not ceased as far as i no have tryed roll startin it but get nothing at all there is no responce...

If you remove the spark plug, attach the plug wire to it, and see a spark when you hold the base of the plug against the motor and kick the starter then the problem must be fuel. Remove the fuel line from the carburetor to make sure that fuel is flowing freely from the gas tank. If that is ok, remove the float bowl from the carb to make sure it has enough gasoline in it to lift the floats high enough to shut off the fuel flow valve. Is the gasoline fairly fresh, by the way? If the gas is ok, and there is enough gas in the bowl to lift the floats, then there must be an obstruction in one of the fuel passages in the carb, or one of the jets is clogged.
One thing you could do before all this, to confirm that fuel is the problem, is to squirt a little gasoline into the carb and then try starting the bike. It should fire momentarily. If it doesn't then you are not getting a strong spark or the timing is off. Have you done anything to the motor that might have messed up the timing?

I need float specs on 86 chev pu quadrajet what is the setting

You need the carb number to get the exact setting but 13/32 should be enough to keep your truck running without any trouble. If you can smell gas a lot then cut it back to 11/32 and if you are having trouble with acceleration or cutting out, bump it up to 15/32. You can get the exact number from a build sheet from a carb kit with the carb number or by vehicle too. Hope this helps.

I have a 4hp yard machine model # 11b504b352 that hunts for rpm. Surges constantly. Any expert sugestions? What's going on in the carb.?

Most likely, you will have to replace your carb. diaphragm. Its between the carb. and the gas tank. It collapsed. So the gas is not going from the tank to the carb. as it should be. It will get some gas, but not enough to run right. (Its starving for gas)

Loose the gas additive. Clean the air filter and then install new spark plugs. If the bike has carbs, drain the carbs. .... All fixed!

Could you take a moment and rate my answer? Thanks!

Sounds like a restriction in your carb, not getting enough gas. I would clean out the carb again.
