Question about Canon PIXMA MP600 all-In-One InkJet Printer
I bought a new MP600 from an online retailer back in April. Due to various reasons, I just set it up today (it's October). When I pulled the printer out of the box and set it on the desk, a small black screw fell from somewhere on or in the printer onto the desk. It's pretty apparent that this is probably a "finish" screw, because it's black like all the other screws I can see on the exterior of the unit. But I can't for the life of me find any hole that is missing a screw on the outside of the unit. I e-mailed Canon to see if they might be able to tell me where the screw came from (maybe they have a schematic of the printer?), and all they offered was to replace the printer...with a REFURBISHED one. I hate to trade my brand-new MP600 for a refurbished one over one little black screw. And everything seems to work fine. So what should I do???? And could this screw just be a stray screw from the factory that found it's way into my printer somehow???? HELP!!
Yes, it is very likely an extra screw that was accidentally placed in the box at the factory just before shipping. I have come across this dilemna with other new, unopened things.
