Aloha, its a Tecumseh/Craftsman mower and at the end of that little black hose under the flywheel is a crankcase breather/filter, you can carefully pry it out with a screwdriver and clean it with solvent or gas and slip it back in and the hose goes to the carb on top there is a nipple, but clean it first

SOURCE: blue/white smoke from muffler

I had white smoke from my muffler after filling a dry push lawn mower gas tank and I guess I over filled the tank. This is a practically new mower. I looked at the mower manual and it said over filling the gas tank would cause white smoke from the muffler. My question is now did I ruin the engine, ruin the muffler, should I drain the gas tank? The manual does not say what I should do.

I was mowing Yest and White smoke started pouring out the Front Could that be bad gas or what

no its not gas. it could be a few things. look on the front of engine and see if it is leaking oil on the muffler. could be rings are bad. could be a valve has stuck. either way it sound like it is a project. when white smoke comes out exhaust it is usually engine failure.

When you start engine white smoke pours out and oil is blowing out 2 feet out of muffler.

Hi michelley636
Check your oil level, it sounds like it is too much oil in the crankcase causing it to burn in the combustion chamber

Hi, TSNP your instrument gauges and lights can alert you to most electrical and engine issues they can not warn you about failed engine gaskets or seals so your engine has to resort to old fashion alert methods of colored "SMOKE SIGNALS" here is a breakdown of their meaning:
1. COLORLESS OR SLIGHTLY BLUE SMOKE on start-up means your air/fuel mixture is at the right composition and everything is well burnt in your combustion chamber.
2. BLUE SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by failed valve seals dripping oil into the combustion chamber when the engine is not running.
3. YELLOW OR BROWNISH SMOKE at start-up means your air/fuel mixture is too lean. Too lean means that there is low fuel but high air mixture in your combustion chamber.
4. WHITE SMOKE on start-up may be caused by worn out valve seals or a blown head gasket allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber and may start dripping out of the exhaust pipes or mufflers. Smoke while riding is usually caused by worn out or damaged valves, seals, guides, pistons, rings, or cylinder walls.
5. BLACK SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by too much fuel in the combustion chamber this can be due to air/fuel mixture adjustment too rich, accelerator pump improperly adjusted, faulty choke/enrichner or not in the off position, air filter dirty and clogged, faulty carburetor float needle and seat, pilot jet too large, fuel injectors leaking, smoke while riding is usually caused by the main jet being too large or a damaged carburetor.
It should be noted that aggressive or abnormal throttle operation will cause these conditions to manifest themselves exponentially.

I changed the oil and white smoke poured out of the exhaust. Also there was oil spewing all over.

Depending on if you laid the engine over on its' side, there could have been oil in the muffler. It may take some time to "burn" this off. It will also come from the muffler. Given enough time the oil will get hot and smoke off of the muffler. Then it will no longer smoke.
I hope this answers your question.

Is this bike a two stroke or four stroke.Meaning do you mix oil n gas,or dose it run on straight gas .If this a two stroke, its normal to blow blue smoke, but not that bad.Sounds like the person before you put to much oil in gas or piston rings are shot. There are exact oil to gas ratios you must follow with a two stroke engine. If you dont, you can have all kinds of problems.

The smoke is oil going in to the combustion chamber, will have to check for broken rings or piston. also if the tractor was stored in a position that the oil would run to the combustion chamber it will do that untill all the oil is burn
