Panasonic BR2032 Battery has solder tabs soldered to pads on PCB, no need to even remove it. Simply remove the back and get out your trusty solder iron.

It does not alert me of traffic jams

¹Lifetime traffic extends for the useful life of your Garmin traffic receiver (as long as you own a compatible Garmin GPS) or (READ THIS---)----> as long as Garmin receives traffic data from its traffic supplier, whichever is shorter. (AND THIS------>Traffic content not available for all areas. See http://www.navteq.com/rdstraffic for traffic coverage areas and www.garmin.com/traffic/fm/navteq.html for program License Agreement containing complete terms and conditions.

Sounds like either the system is not getting the updates or else the updates are not being provided, but either way something is not happening someplace. Or maybe you have the traffic system shut off because it was annoying you one day.

Hope this helps

Our Garmin 185 is not reading the right position. We are in New Zealand and we should be south and east but is reading north and east and dont seem to be able to change it.

Most GPS units require 3 satellites minimum to tri-angulate your positon (more is better but 3 is minimum). From the question your asking I would think the unit needs to be sent in for repairs because it is not positioning your correctly only garmin can make those repairs for you that I am aware of. Garmins website is www.garmin.com Go to the top of the screen to the right you will see My garmin there. Click on that and send them an email or call them on how to get your unit repaired.

I hope this helps you out, and any positive feedback on here would be appreciated.

I bought the Nuvi 1490 which should have come with live traffic. It has never worked and I can't add it to my GPS

This is from Garmin's website, www.garmin.com, regarding the Nuvi 1490T. If you haven't already done so, you might want to check and make sure you are in an area that does receive traffic coverage.

Battery on my garmin c510 sat nan wount hold a charge how easy is it to change

Had the same problem. Fixed with a new battery. Takes the same as a Streetpilot c530 and can be purchased anywhere on line. A 10 minute job with a soldering iron.

1. Open face plate. Unscrew 4 screws. Remove battery connector and clip.
2. Unsolder the wires to the two speakers - 4 wires.
3. Remove the sticky wrap from the old battery and place around the new one (to stop it rattling).
4. Solder back the new speaker wires.
5. Plug in battery, reassemble unit and charge Garmin off PC wih usb cable.
Done!

Replacement of the memory battery of my Garmin 195

Piece of cake. Remove screws from back of device. Separate the housing and carefully lift up circuit card off of pins. There is a battery holder underneath. Simply remove wafer battery and replace with like model battery. Put back together and you're off.

Remove and replace the lithium coin batt from a Garmin gpsmap185

The battery is a Panasonic BR2032-1F2; the suffix desinates that it has two flat tabs for soldering into the unit horizontally. Once you remove tha back of the unit, you'll see the battery next to a resistor that's siliconed in place. You'll need to knife the silicone loose so you can gently move the resistor aside to reach the soldered tab underneath it. Just heat the solder on each tab with a small soldering iron until it melts and the tab pops loose.

Install the new battery with the unmarked side up (the other side has type) and solder in place. Reinstall the power and antenna connections in the cover, replace the cover, power up the unit and start re-creating all your lost waypoints.

Batteries can be ordered online from Allied Electronics at $2.42ea (www.alliedelec.com)
