Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

360 isnt reading discs

I have a ms25 drive in my 360 with xtreme5.2, and it started not reading discs right, and giving dirty disc messages. I upgraded to verbatims, did not work. Then I did the POT tweak, and set it at .10 intervals between 2.8 and 3.6, did not work. What else can I do to fix this? or what am I doing wrong?

Xbox 360 wont read discs is it the dvd drive or laser

It could be a number of problems as to why your Xbox 360 isn't reading the discs. Try going to your Setting>Console Setting>Startup, set it to your disc and start up your 360. If that doesn't work, your Xbox cd driver could be showing signs of failing. The laser could be dirty also, so try to gently clean the laser eye with a microfiber cloth or some compressed air, trying not to damage the reader.
Good luck!

Tip

When you try to play a DVD game on Xbox 360 it tries to play as a movie?

c on your Xbox 360 console, you may receive an error message. This article presents step-by-step guidance to help you determine whether your disc is playable.
SYMPTOMS When you try to play a disc, you may receive the following error message: Can’t read this DVD.
CAUSE The DVD or game disc may be dirty or damaged. Because the console cannot read the disc well, it may even mistake a game disc for a DVD and report this error. If this problem occurs with multiple discs, even clean and undamaged discs, there may be a problem with your Xbox 360 console.
Note If you receive a different error message, such as one of the following messages, the problem is a different problem:
Error message 1 Can't play DVD. Wrong region code. Error message 2 Can’t play DVD. Family settings restrict playback of this DVD. If you receive one of these error messages, see the corresponding Knowledge Base article: 907620 While attempting to play a standard DVD movie using your Xbox 360 console, you receive the error message: "Can't play DVD. Wrong region code" 908645 While attempting to play a DVD movie using your Xbox 360 console, you receive the error message: "Can’t play DVD. Family settings restrict playback of this DVD"
THINGS TO TRY Here are some things that you can do to try to fix the problem or to determine what caused it.
Determine whether the disc is dirty or damaged Discs that are smudged, scratched, or otherwise damaged cannot be read by the Xbox 360 console. You will want to examine the disc to see whether it has smudges, scratches, or other damage. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Examine the disc for dirt or damage: a. Pick up the disc by its edges. Do not touch the top or bottom surface. b. Examine the shiny side of the disc to make sure that the disc is clean and has no damage.
NoteScratches that follow the curve of the disc are very damaging and prevent a disc from being read. If your disc has even one of these kinds of scratches, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 2. If the disc is dirty, clean the disc by hand: • Use a soft, clean, dry, chemical-free cloth to clean the disc. • Lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward. 3. After you clean the disc, try to load it in the Xbox 360 console. If the disc still will not load or you receive the same error message, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 4. If the disc is damaged, do one of the following: • Because DVD discs are not game discs and the disc was damaged because of misuse of some type, such as not storing the disc in its case, the only thing that you can do is buy a new one. • If you feel that the disc was damaged by the Xbox 360 console in some way, please contact Xbox Customer Support. Game wont read says put disc in xbox 360 but i am using xbox 360 also it says its a dvd not game just wont let me play no more

If you have recently tried to mod your Xbox 360 then you did not get the drive key installed correctly. Otherwise the laser lens is either dirty/ starting to weaken. You can either replace the laser lens in the disc drive, try to clean it, try the POT tweak or replace the whole disc drive. Keep in mind if you replace the disc drive you will need to swap the PCBs or the drive keys. Hope this helps.

Open tray

Hi, this is caused because your laser is either dirty or starting to fail. Take your 360 and turn it on, then open the tray. As soon as the tray is open, unplug your 360. Now with the tray open use a can of compressed air or an air compressor and blow out the DVD drive .And see if it is because your laser is dirty. Take your 360 and plug it back in and try putting a disc in it. If it still gives you the "open tray" error, then your laser is not reading the disc and needs to be replaced.

Try to use cd rom lens head cleaner, the one with the small brush at the middle of the disk, never use cleaner using liquid solution. the best cleaning method is to open the cd and clean manually the laser lens using a cotton buds, the lens are so delicate so don't apply too much force. you can easily locate the lens in the cd case, it is a round bluish lens. cd rom cleaner works best when your unit is clean!! Huhh? Run it once a day, regularly, its like sweeping the floor of your house before you work for that day. Cd rom cleaning depends on playing back the No 1 and jumps to no 3 tracks, cleaning takes place on track 2 of the disc, you cannot clean if you cannot play the unit.. get that?
