Loss of sound is often a SCART connection problem. Check that the SCARTS are pushed in securely. Or if the SCART is old, it may be faulty. Try a newer one, or one that you know is definitely ok.

Try turning off the computer, reboot, go to start choose defragment, defraging can take a long time, I defrag at night, if after defraging, it still will not work, you don't have enough memory, try compressing programs and files you don't use much and you might want to get an external zip driver to put your music on. You can purchase one at any computer or office supply store, music takes up a lot of memory.

G'day, I know it's been months since you posted it, but for you or anyone else who is looking for a solution, press the button on the remote marked "res". This restarts the system. I had to restart it a few times (3 maybe), before the OSD came back on. Hope I can be of help.

If it's like the DR620 it will only receive analogue from the TV aerial. I connect the AV out connections on my set box to the inlet AV on the recorder and watch and record through the recorder's "rear AV input" selection.
