Question about Bernina Artista 180
The wheel release on my 1008 bernina is too tight to unscrew. Must I remove the cover and oil it? How do I do this?
It may be freed up with brute force and awkwardness. If you don't have a gorilla living with you try using a rubber glove to get a better grip on the knurled knob. If that does not work you can escalate to a pair of large pliers and protect the knob by using the glove. If you still can;t get it become angry so you have some adrenaline flowing then attack it with a pipe wrench.

Heat the wheel with a hair dryer to loosen. If this does not help, you will need to visit an authorized Bernina dealer.

Barbara. When you removed the handwheel did you find a bit weird looking washer with ears around the outside and to fingers pointing to the center of the washer? If so you probably put that in backwards. The center fingers are slightly bent... they would be bent toward the outside.
