The wheel release to wind my bobbin on a 1008 will not move. What can I do?

The wheel release on my 1008 bernina is too tight to unscrew. Must I remove the cover and oil it? How do I do this?

It may be freed up with brute force and awkwardness. If you don't have a gorilla living with you try using a rubber glove to get a better grip on the knurled knob. If that does not work you can escalate to a pair of large pliers and protect the knob by using the glove. If you still can;t get it become angry so you have some adrenaline flowing then attack it with a pipe wrench.

Heat the wheel with a hair dryer to loosen. If this does not help, you will need to visit an authorized Bernina dealer.

SOURCE: adjust hand wheel bernina 1008 sewing mmaachine

Barbara. When you removed the handwheel did you find a bit weird looking washer with ears around the outside and to fingers pointing to the center of the washer? If so you probably put that in backwards. The center fingers are slightly bent... they would be bent toward the outside.

Why won't the needle go up and down on my Bernina

Your bobbin wind is on. The hand wheel needs to be tightened in order for the needle to sew.

I removed the hand wheel cover on my Bernina 1001 because the wheel was too tight and now I cant get it to do anything...sew, wind bobbin. Help

With the wheel on you will have a 3 pronged washer, make sure that the screw on the stop motion wheel is unscrewed all the way, put the stop motion wheel back on ans tighten it hand tight only, tighten the screw in the stop motion and see if the stop motion frees off and then tightens again so the machine will work, if it does not take the stop motion wheel of again and move the 3 pronged washer in a different position and put the stop motion wheel back on again

Loose top thread bernina 1008, tension problem but no solutions yet...

Are you sure you are getting the top thread between the tension discs? You should be able to tell the difference when you lower the pressed foot.

Where is the had wheel relaese in bernina 1008

The handwheel is in two parts - the inner part with the grooves on the outside is turned anti-clockwise about a quarter turn whilst holding the outside part to disconnect the drive from the needle bar, when winding a bobbin. Dont forget to re-tighten it before sewing and dont overtighten it otherwise it'll be difficult to disconnect the clutch again.

Both dials on the right spin when I try to sew. I try to tighten them, but they won't stay tight and the needle won't move (kind of stuck in bobbin winding mode)

First make sure that the bobbin winder clutch (handwheel) is tight. DO this buy spining the small ring all the way clockwise. Then make sure that the butonhole dial is set to top dead center. then Also check to make sure that the the top stitch slector is set to straight stitch.

If any of this was not the problem then look at the botom of the nobs there should be a small hole. in that hole there is a set screw that may have come loose. you will need ether a small flat head screwdriver, or a alen rench 1.5 or 2.0 mm. let me know if this did not fix it.
