Question about Toshiba Gigabeat MEG-F20S MP3 Player

1 Answer

Gigabeat F10 okay- i'm super annoyed right now, so here it goes. i still cannot "reformat" this player. i just can't find the info (file or instruction). i have the owner's manual, not that it does much good to me because it says to look for a file that i do not apparently have on my computer. Napster says- digital rights management software has become corrupted and that i must reformat the player before it will work again with napster. i can't even delete a playlist so I need very very basic instructions if anyone has some advice. i'm not ready to give in to the ipod so someone please help me figure this out or it looks like i'll just be getting a new player. the player still says data error, but when i try and sync to napster that's when i get the corruption message. SOURCE: Toshiba Gbeat F10 "files not found" Napster says to reformat

I had this problem on mine as well. The problem was that the liscenses on the music was expired. I had to remove the music and then reload it and have had no problems since. Good luck.

NO DATA appears on the sreen

Reformatting your player will delete all existing data files which you have personally installed on the unit.

Reformatting does not however, delete any drivers or firmware.

If you enter the menu and look for your System Files folder, you should be able to determine if your firmware is still present.

If you're concerned, just go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest firmware for your player, save the firmware file onto your pc, connect your player to your pc and transfer the firmware file directly to your player.

Follow the installation as per the instructions.

Hope this helps.....

Once I switch on the player, a message appears"Refreshing media". Then the player hangs. What should I do?

If you have a media card inserted into the player, take it out and see if the problem replicates. If it does, it may be a media slot-related issue that can be resolved by reformatting the system itself. Either way, a system reformat may resolve the issue.

To do this, go into "Settings" and choose the "Reformat" option. NOTE: this will delete any files you've already copied to the internal memory, so ensure that you are okay with that.

System error 00200060 NO SYSTEM FOUND ON HDD ona Toshiba MEGF40. I tried firmware upgrade, reformatting but not working hellp me

Okay, here's what you need to do. I'm assuming at some point yours like mine was formatted under windows. This is bad for them lol. Locate your copy of gigabeat room, and install it. This comes with a extra program in the start menu titled formatting utility for gigabeat. Format with this program, and then look under program files/toshiba/gigabeatroom/GBsystem. Copy GBsystem to the gigabeat, then turn the battery off with the switch on the bottom for thirty seconds. That should do it.

This can only be done with a computer running USB 1.0. My newer computers could not "see" the gigabeat properly. I used an old machine with outdated USB to get mine to work again :) you can also check for aftermarket firmware called Rock Box, just installed that one mine, no more converting music to *.sat, it'll take straight mp3s now just like it should :) uploaded 20 gigs to it in less than half an hour :) beats the hell out of waiting ten hours for 8 gigs lol!

System files might got corrupted. The best way for you to do is to reformat the MP3 Player. Hook it up on your computer's usb port. Right click your windows START button and choose Explore. It will open the windows explorer. Look for the drive letter associated with your MP3 player, right click on it and choose Format. Do a quick format and after that, you should be good.

How Do I Put Videos On My Memorex mmp9008 mp3 player?

You can use the Media Coder that came with your player. Instructions here: , page 15.

Or, go to and download SUPER@. Be patient, they make you click through three pages until you can download the application. Once downloaded, set it up like this:

If you right click in the area below the output section, you will get this menu:

You can drag and drop your media files into the area where you see one of mine. To change the destination folder, click on output file management.

When you click "Encode (Active Files)" , it will give you a choice of encoders. Choose "XVID" , and your files will playback on your MMP9008 every time! Enjoy! A 1.6 GB file will shrink down to about 150 MB.
