Question about Toshiba Gigabeat MEG-F20S MP3 Player

Open Question

Gigabeat F10 okay- i'm super annoyed right now, so here it goes. i still cannot "reformat" this player. i just can't find the info (file or instruction). i have the owner's manual, not that it does much good to me because it says to look for a file that i do not apparently have on my computer. Napster says- digital rights management software has become corrupted and that i must reformat the player before it will work again with napster. i can't even delete a playlist so I need very very basic instructions if anyone has some advice. i'm not ready to give in to the ipod so someone please help me figure this out or it looks like i'll just be getting a new player. the player still says data error, but when i try and sync to napster that's when i get the corruption message. I had this problem on mine as well. The problem was that the liscenses on the music was expired. I had to remove the music and then reload it and have had no problems since. Good luck.

System error 00200060 NO SYSTEM FOUND ON HDD ona Toshiba MEGF40. I tried firmware upgrade, reformatting but not working hellp me

Okay, here's what you need to do. I'm assuming at some point yours like mine was formatted under windows. This is bad for them lol. Locate your copy of gigabeat room, and install it. This comes with a extra program in the start menu titled formatting utility for gigabeat. Format with this program, and then look under program files/toshiba/gigabeatroom/GBsystem. Copy GBsystem to the gigabeat, then turn the battery off with the switch on the bottom for thirty seconds. That should do it.

This can only be done with a computer running USB 1.0. My newer computers could not "see" the gigabeat properly. I used an old machine with outdated USB to get mine to work again :) you can also check for aftermarket firmware called Rock Box, just installed that one mine, no more converting music to *.sat, it'll take straight mp3s now just like it should :) uploaded 20 gigs to it in less than half an hour :) beats the hell out of waiting ten hours for 8 gigs lol!

My mp3 player turns on and read file system error. Can I reset or fix the problem

System files might got corrupted. The best way for you to do is to reformat the MP3 Player. Hook it up on your computer's usb port. Right click your windows START button and choose Explore. It will open the windows explorer. Look for the drive letter associated with your MP3 player, right click on it and choose Format. Do a quick format and after that, you should be good.

Hope this helps you.

File transfer Problem

Ok, I figured out a solution on my own.

Remarkably simple - all I did was reformat the player again and then reinstall windows media player.

Although in my travels I came across an article which may help users with a similar problem:

MP3 problems

when you plug it in, if you go to my computer do you see its disk there as a removeable drive?

then you can use a program like

to find out what is takeing up all the space in the player.
you can try to just format it there, but I wouldnt recommend it unless its the only choice.

Gigabeat and Vista

I hate to say it, but nothing can be done about your situation. I am having the same problem. It is a fight between Microsoft and Apple. I even own a new Toshiba laptop and can't even use my gigabeat with it. What a huge slap in the face. I don't understand why the technology world work with one another to make consumers happy. Sorry for the bad news
