Monitor does not come on

Here one possible solution (1.) Allow the monitor to power off several hours to cool off. 2.) I changed the AC adapter because it seemed the plug was loose. Sometimes its a faulty AC adapter. 3.) I changed the power settings to Never Off. You can try Restore Default for monitor settings.

For the past few weeks my Hanns G 19 inch LCD monitor keeps having troubles displaying a screen. It constantly makes a loud sound that it repeats and it takes several hours before the green light appears...

From the description you give, this sounds like a failure in the circuit board, normally the capacitors go and the thing refuses to power up, however, the fact it defaulted to a low resolution indicates that the actual board is in some way failing, possibly a damaged circuit, or component.

I would think it could be repaired and it may be a simple job for someone who can identify the failing component, however, I think that the cost of getting it repaired would outweigh the cost of replacement

My syncmaster 730MW used to take some mins before coming on..then it got to an hour, now it gone of completely what do i do?

> what do I do ?

Spend $50 to $100 at any TV/video repair-shop, for trouble-shooting and repair.

Or, spend $40 to $50 to buy a used 17-inch LCD screen, or $100 to buy a new 19-inch LCD screen.

Powers on without video

Hi there,

Here's the fast track on troubleshooting. Borrow a friend's monitor ASAP. If the other monitor displays normally, your monitor is probably in serious trouble. If the other monitor powers on with video. It's the vidoe card on your motherboard.

It's a simple exercise but almost noone ever likes either answer.

So, ease up on my rating. 2 thumbs up actually decreases it. If you can't leave 3 or 4 then sort of ignore this solution. I seek out tough questions to answer for free while everyone else is bidding for your answers to easy questions.

Thankss

When i turn my monitor on it shows no picture and it makes a sound like it is running the electricty went out and when it came back on thats when the trouble started thank you

It's time to spend $100 to buy a brand-new 19-inch LCD monitor,
or $200 to buy a brand-new 22-inch LCD monitor,
rather than paying a TV/CRT technician $50 to $75 per hour to try to fix the "antique" monitor.

Gateway FPD 1730 Monitor

What has happened is part of your back lighting circuitry has gone out. Yes it is repairable but can cost most of what a replacement monitor will cost these days. Check that out before spending the money. If the problem is only in the back lighting circuit then expect to spend about $100 for a replacement board.

LCD monitors lifespan depends on the quality. Normal use and you should get 2-3 years of reliable service minimum. The display itself is good for about 4000 or so hours of use or more. The problems that show up are always (well 99.99% of the time) are back lighting problems like you have experienced. You should turn it off by the switch when not using it as every hour it runs the screen save is an hour of usable life. Heat is not good for it so if your computer gets the dust cleaned out to keep it cool do the monitor at the same time. Once a year at least more if you smoke use gas heat and have pets.

Tube monitors have a much longer life but you have the size weight and poorer display to go with them. If you have to go back to a tube monitor don't go back to your 14 ask around and you should be able to get a 17 or 19 crt for free. Or expect to pay no more than $10-20 for one.

Philips game trouble

When your game first loads. Enter the games settings and adjust the screen resoultion to match your wide screen monitor. If you can't get that far than hook up that other monitor. Load the game & enter it's screen settings (display) & adjust the resoultion. Your new monitor is wide screen. Your game needs to match the wide screen as well.

Good Luck!

PC or monitor, signal problems

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.
