I purchased the above recorder last December and everything has worked well until the last few days.
When I am watching a pre - recorded DVD I can hear the audio from whatever channel is pre-set on the recorder. For example, to-day I was watching a DVD, the channel was set on 3 and I could hear commentry from the rugby world cup in the background?? Although it wasn't loud it was enough to be a distraction!!
Also, when I record on to HDD, on playback there is a lot of interference, flickering of picture and horizontal bars. This also the same if I am watching a T.V channel through the recorder. I have checked all cable connections and all are in good order.

I ran into some problems that the manual doesn't address. Initially the info window on the recorder says that it is an "EMPTYDISC". Great, because it is. Next I put the recorder in the monitor mode and select the input that I have the camcorder plugged into. The window says. "EMPTYDISC" for a while and then changes to "NO SIGNAL". When I start the camcorder (in player mode) the recorder info window goes back to "EMPTYDISC". Then when I push the record button, on either the remote or the front of the recorder, within 5 sec. the screen on the monitor freezes. The camcorder is still playing, but the picture on monitor freezes. The recorder info window says "CO1 5:55:09 CAM1" and begins to count down. Since it seems to be doing nothing, I push the stop button and the info window posts "INIT MENU" for a short time, ~10 sec., and changes to "POSTFORMT". That message is on for a minute or two and then a "DISC ERR" message comes up on the recorder info window and the monitor. In about a minute the recorder shuts itself off. I know you said that it has been a while since you used it, but, if you have any pearls of wisdom, they would be appreciated. I haven't tried it with anything other than my camcorder, but I don't think that is the problem since it continues to play as the screen freezes. I tried setting the clock and date. I've tried the front and the back RCA plugs. I tried changing the record mode from M1 to M6. I tried pushing record before I started the camcorder and starting the camcorder before pushing record. The same messages come up. Thanks for any help you might have.
