Hibernate mode sucks. It uses a bunch of hard drive space (not good). It does boot up a little faster from hibernate but no easier on the system than if you had shut everything down.

Could be all manner of things, from just the graphics card, to the PSU or even the CPU, itself, I would start trying to test the graphics card (may just need reseating) and then test the PSU, then take it from there

Optiplex 745 monitor goes to sleep randomly

In regards to your issue with your monitor: For a monitor to display "no signal input" there is likely a problem with the monitor making a connection to your input source (yes I know duh). First and easiest thing to fix this is to check your cables going between your computer and monitor, if your computer and monitor start out working and then fail to communicate, there is a good chance that the cable might be coming loose just enough that the connection fails. I might suggest that if you have, as you say another computer, that you try swapping monitors to check where the problem lies.

Hope this helps some.

Compaq FS7600 Computer not turning on

what tower? model, the monitor has nothing to do with power and dead fans in the tower.
'Sounds, (and silent to) means the PLUS in the PC is dead.
all things can be repaired, that is what technicians do.
here is the chain of events, ! to get noise (fans)
power in the wall 120vac , usa
power to the PSU,
the power button goes to the MOBO, and standby power is there
now and pushing said button the MOBO commands the PSU on
if the PSU is happy (PWROK) thinks PSU IS safe the PSU tells the PC its ok, and power stays up.
and fans run.

so my guess bad PSU, its easy to test with anyf $10 voltmeter,
ask.

tower PSU, 101

I have a Gateway HD1900 monitor. The problem i'm having is, at start up the monitor turns on for a sec. then off for a sec., over and over. This keeps the screen black. After about 15min. or so, the...

it is possible the monitor is going out

another possiblity is monitor setting--when the monitor comes from the factory they put setting in for the monitor, & you have to go in & adjust them to what you want
Windows 7
Go to control panel
Go to hardware & sound
Go to power options
Select a power plan
Which ever one you pick--click change power settings--to what you want the settings to be
And go to each power plan so the settings will be the same
Each time click save

For windows xp
Go to the control panel
Go to appearance & themes
Go to screen saver--at the bottom you will see monitor power--to adjust monitor power settings & save energy click the power button
The menu will say power option prosperities
Turn off monitor setting--click what you want it to be
Turn off hard disk settings--put what you want
Turn off system standby--put what you want

Monitor is switching off immediately after system is switched on. Again when monitor is switched on, images appear for about 3 seconds and again monitor switches off.pl give the solution.

You need to determine if you is turning off or going into standby mode. When your monitor shuts off, the power light will turn orange if it is in standby or the light will turn completely off if the monitor turns off. If your monitor goes to standby, that means that your monitor is losing signal which indicates a problem with your PC. #1 Make sure cable is firmly secured and both screws are tight #2 Check your video card make sure that it is firmly in its slot. Take it out and put it back in. *as long as your computer is open give it a good cleaning with compressed air* If those things check out it is possible that your video card has failed and needs to be replaced.
If your monitor is powering off #1Check plugins- try something else (i.e. lamp) in the outlet #2 Try your PC's power cord in your monitor

Dell monitor

Sounds like there is a heat related problem. Probably a bad solder joint somewhere. Could be hard to track and would probably cost you more money to repair and it does to purchase a replacement monitor. 17" LCDs go for around $150 these days.
