It's a safety device, so it's probably not a good idea. You can remove the switch and connect the two wires.

Colum shift lever is locked in park

I think you must depress the brake to release the shift interlock. If this is true, the interlock switch on the brake pedal may have become dislodged or failed. You could try bypassing it to test.

Lid lock bypass

Your "lid lock" really is an interlock to prevent machine operation when the lid is open. I use a plastic clothespin to close the interlock because the lid on my washer got bent

I can't start the car in remote need to bypass clutch interlock switch how do I do that with out removeing plug. Remote is compatible for both automatic and manual transmission.Don not know what t

I do not recommend remote start systems for manual transmissions. You would have to bypass the clutch interlock to enable the starting circuit. If you left the vehicle in gear and used the remote you could do damage to the vehicle or other property (hopefully the parking brake holds the car in place). I have never seen a factory remote system on a manual transmission, to much liability....

What could be wrong with my starter?

Follow the Positive battery cable to its first union with a part. This should be the starter solenoid. You can bypass the solenoid with 1 jumper cable to see if the starter will spin. It will spark when you put power across the switch.

If the starter is spinning you have another problem to look at. There will be a small wire on top of the starter solenoid that you bypassed. If you use a voltmeter on this small wire, when disconnected, it will show voltage when the ignition key is held to the start position.

If it shows power, then the Interlock under the dash is okay. If you do not get power to this small wire, the brake interlock is bad. Under the dash is a brake pedal lever. It locks out the controls for the starter if the brake pedal is not pressed when you try to start the vehicle.

When this interlock switch is broken or moved by drivers' feet, the starter will not get power. You must fix the brake pedal interlock switch if you have no power in the small starter relay wire.

My 2003 aviator gear is locked in park and will not move

check to see if your brake lights work. No? check your brake light fuse. OK? change your brake light switch. Your brake light switch powers the brake / shifter interlock. There is usually a way to bypass the interlock- check your owners manual for bypass button location ( its usually next to the shifter)

Tryed to start truck and it would not crank. i noticed a light that said check engine. i checked fuses under hood. i took off starter and had it checked it was good.what next.

I'm assuming you have a no-crank condition. check interlock relay and safety interlock. Safety interlock is on shifter if you have automatic. It's on the clutch pedal arm if you have manual. Interlock relay should be in engine compartment relay box. You can bypass both of these and the ignition switch by jumping the solenoid. See troubleshooting procedures here:
and let me know if you have questions.
