I have an 18" Sears Kenmore dishwasher, which I've owned for 1 year and two months. It never has worked as well as I'd expect, but in August it started making a grinding noise and it would not operate. I called in the Sears Techn. who identified it as a blown motor. Of course, he said my warranty had expired the month prior.
Question: Would it be better to buy a new dishwasher or pay these people almost $300 to repair this one? Is there a better product? I have to have a small unit.
Any other suggestions?

The dishwasher says kenmore but it is made by whirlpool or frigidaire. If the cost of repair exceed 2/3rds of the cost of a new one it would be best to replace it. Whirlpool makes good models. Their line of kitchenaid seem to be the quietest.
