Microwave's timer counts down but doesn't turn on to warm food

I have a GE Spacemaker XL, model #JVM1339BW 002. When I put in the amount of time, needed to cook, the timer counts down and the light comes on inside but I don't hear the motor turn on to cook the food. What could be the problem. I would like to try and fix this myself.

No there is no heat since the only thing that seems to be running is the timer, counting down and the light inside. The turntable isn't moving either.

I bought-the oster microwave and like others it did not last long before it stop heating. I took (careful precaution!!) and (unplugged the the unit!!) to view the fuse which of course is the main problem why this microwave does not heat up. Everything else works well but the heating. But since I changed the fuse to something very close to the same amp of the actual fuse it did work fine next to nothing.

I did not find any problem other than the noheating. This should only be attempted by someone who is in fact has close knowledge of electricity. The process is safe (WITH THE CORRECT PRECAUTION!!).Ever since I replaced the fuse and found out that that was all it needed I have been using it for 8 mths. Note--I did take measures into my own hands which is not recommended by anyone. But it is the old-fashion way...

The only motors would be the Magnetron fan cooler and turntable. Is there no heat at all?

I'd guess the power supply or the magnetron has become faulty. There may well be a safety fuse inside but be aware that lethal voltages and radiation are exposed when you run the microwave without the case.

    Take care and good luck!

GE Spacemaker XL - fan stopped working, light will come on and timer will count down.

either the magnatron fried , or the fuse fried... either way the microwve has to be taken down and opened up.
If you have the serial number , GE will send you a replacement magnatron (but will not service the unit for you).
contact GE and they will take care of you... the magnatrons are warranted for like 10 years....

Microwave lights up doesn't turn on

The part of the oven called the "magnetron" (this part is what creates/generates the microwave energy that heats the food or liquid) is burned out, the cost to repair is more this part is more than the cost to replace with the cost of Microwaves so depressed by the stagnant economy.

GE SPACEMAKER XL1800 IS NOT HEATING FOOD - GIVING "SENSOR ERROR" ON DISPLAY. I am a handy guy capapble of fixing if you can help me out w/the part I need

hello,

if you have a sensor, it means, the door was opened before steam could be detected. Do not open the door until stream is sensed and time is shown counting down on the display.

Steam was not detected in the maximum amount of time. Use Time Cook to heat for more time. The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

thanks.

Everything works except heat

this is something you should probably call a repair technician for, due to the danger of the componentry.

Usually in ther case of this problem, even a technician will advise you to replace the unit, in the minds of cost effectiveness and safety...
