I have a USB cable that connects to my Yaesu VX-170 radio. I'm running Vista Home Premium. Vista finds no driver when trying to install. There is no mfg listed on the cable or on any of the paperwork. Ideas?
The apparent solution is to install the driver found at http://www.jvp-com.biz/drivers/pl2303hx.zip. I also tried a different port, COM4. This seemed to solve the Code 31 error received when using COM3.

Clarification: The problem occurs when the cable and ONLY the cable is plugged into the PC. Vista searches for a driver locally and then on the internet. After the install fails, in device mana ger, the USB-SERIAL CONTROLLER is listed with a question mark, of course. The radio is queried and writrten in a manner similiar to reading/writing a modem. Ideas?
Contact the manufacturer of the radio, and ask if they have USB drivers.
