This could be a number of things.
#1 do you have DSL internet service? If so do you have a DSL filter between the jack and your terminal?
#2 Do you have digital phone service? Vontage or Comcast will cause this problem . Especially upon batching out the terminal.
#3 Check the blind dial setting within the other setup option. This option is buried, so it will require a phone call to Merchant service Provider.
If none of these work, then it is time for a new service. Place a call the Heartland Payment Systems Credit Card Processing and change your card service provider. The only card service provider that has a merchant bill of rights and field service techs (for free).

Try connecting a laptop to that cable and see if that laptop can get to the internet. If not, then the connection is bad and needs repair. If the laptop can get to the internet on that cable, then the unit has gone bad and needs the communications module replaced. - Call your processor to get a new unit.

The most common error with these terminals is that they are connected improperly. Everyone plugs the power in first then the rest of the cables. Ensure that your cables are plugged into the proper ports first. The 10-Base-T port is for internet only, the Phone icon port is for phone line, the RS232 is not used unless otherwise stated, the Calculator looking port is for pin pads only. Once the cables are properly connected reboot the terminal by unplugging the power cable for roughly 10-15 seconds then plugging the power back in. Once it starts again it should be fine. If you are running on a multiline system for phone the terminal will not dial out unless you set the prefix to dial 9 first.

this will happen if you do have a single com module and the program is set up for 10base ( internet ) com if this is the case you will need a dual com module the first thing the unit does when you run a transaction is to look for the com port is it is 10 base it will look for the internet connection " BUT " if the comm module is bad meaning it took a power surge hit them you have to replace it if you need more help call us @ 775- 358 2922 hope this help : - )
