I just got the same problem today with a two months old P5Q SE/R. No matter what i do i cannot disable that stupid feature and i always get the error, the board is dead. I can only enter bios once after clearing the cmos. I also tried reflashing the bios, downgrading the bios, clearing cmos with jumper and removing the battery. Nothing works. I'm afraid that the this is a hardware or bios issue and the only solution would be a BIOS hack. In the meantime i'm buying another MB, I can't wait three-four weeks for Asus to replace this piece of ****. That's it, i'm never buying asus again.

Hey,

Go into bios or cmos setup. when you turn the computer on it says what you need to press to get in there, look over the bios, look for chassis intrusion detection, turn it off, then go back to the main screen save and exit.

you won't have the problem anymore.

Thanks and good luck.

I wen't over the bios for this motherboard, this one doesn't have the feature.

Your motherboard does have a connector we need to check.

Hope this picture comes out readable

Make sure theres a jumper connecting the Chassis signal and GND together. if there isn't one, you need to get one and connect the two pins with it, if there is one, take it out instead and start up without the jumper, if the error still comes, turn the computer off and place the jumper back in and see if the issue is solved.

let me know how that goes.

SOURCE: chassis intrusion

You need to check the chassis intrusion pin setting located on the motherboard. See page 1-30 (Number 11) in your manual.
You need to add a jumper as shown.
The system should no longer halt.

Cheers!

Can you access the bios? You should disable Chassis intrusion, I don't really see anyone needing it if it's just a home pc.

ASUS p4 intel motherboard giving chassis intruded. fatal error message and system would not boot unless reset again. can anybody solve this?

Hi there.
Start the PC and enter the bios using either the Esc or Del key, once in the bios set the chassis intrusion to "disabled" save the changes and exit the bios, the computer will now restart and you should be able to boot into the operating system no problem.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Chassis Intruded, Fatal Error...System Halted

you need to go into the bios of your pc.....usually pressing the delete key when you see the first logo screen after booting up....look for a section that relates to errors and what the bios is supposed to do when it encounters an error.
i.e if you see a line in the bios that says "halt on all errors" disable it and when you next boot up the bios will not stall.

Chassis Intruded, Fatal Error.....System Halted

I'm not familiar with that particulat model, but I'd guess the motherboard has a chassis switch connector, and senses the chassis be open. Could be because: - chassis open (close it), - switch defect (as a workaround, you could short-circuit it, or just unplug it - whichever solution works for you). As another workaround, you can probably disable this switch in BIOS.
