Question about Nikon D300s Body only Digital Camera
I've had this happen occasionally with my D-90. It has always been a problem with the battery not making proper contact. And, I've always been able to fix it by either reseating the battery or replacing it with a freshly charged one. It's possible that the battery is bad and may not be accepting a charge.

Hiyour lens should be af-s 300/2.8 vr.. nikon product are all compatible. which means your d70 something wrong I think. If you have bundle lens with d70, you can check it out easy. usually d70 comes with af-s 18-55 which is pretty much same work method with af-s 300. THanks and best regard!
