Question about Toshiba Satellite Computers & Internet

Toshiba Satellite C55-A text is blurry when on the internet

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite C55-A5302 and when I go onto the internet using Internet Explorer the text is blurry. Pictures are fine. The screen resolution is 1366x768 as per factory recommended. I have also gone through the Windows clear type adjustment. Nothing works

Thanks for responding. It is windows 8, Internet Explorer 10, desktop mode, text is normal size neither large nor small. The text is better in Google Chrome. It is desktop mode. A notepad file I opened looked fine. Seems to be only in Explorer.

Hi, Thanks for your responses. I downloaded Chrome & Firefox and the text is fine. I'll try the IE11 and see if that helps. I went back to the store and saw that most non-touch screen laptops have the same issue.

Is it windows 7 or 8? Internet Explorer modern (tablet mode), or desktop mode (the one that opens while on your desktop)? Internet Explorer 10 or 11? Ia the text very large or small? Does it only happen in Internet Explorer, or does text appear blurry in other apps? Are those apps desktop mode or tablet mode apps?

According to this forum from superuser,http://superuser.com/questions/506192/di...

Sorry, didn't finish. the forum link above describes that Microsoft removed the sub-pixel rendering in Windows 8 and opted to design the OS for tablets and small screens. Even though your resolution of 1366x768 is one used primarily with smaller screens, your laptop is a 15.6" display which is quite large. The blurriness is due to the font rendering in Windows 8. The whole Windows 8 OS was a major pain in the side with IT and retailers alike. My store still deals with angry customer's that want Windows 7 but can't have it.

If Internet Explorer is the only program with the issue, I'd suggest using Chrome or Firefox instead which don't use the ClearType rendering and produce a more crisp font

You could also try installing IE11 and see if that fixes it. Should be in your Windows Updates by now as an "important update"

If it has Windows 7 on it there should be an option to dim the screen. Go to the Start menu and click Control Panel.

Click on the Power Settings icon. It should be in there on the left.

I have a Toshiba laptop.. completely new, and it was 700 dollars. When I go onto facebook, or clothes shopping, all of the pictures are blurry... but text is fine.

I understand that you are having the issue that you are getting Blurred Pictures while accessing the sites. To answer your query with the proper steps the information about the Browser you are using is required. If you are using the Internet Explorer you may follow the steps: Launch the Internet Explorer browser by double-clicking its Desktop icon or selecting it from the Start menu. Click "Tools" in the top menu bar of Internet Explorer. Select "Internet Options" from the drop-down menu. Click the "Advanced" tab and scroll down to Multimedia. Check the box next to "Smart Image Dithering." This will help to ensure that images are loaded properly. Right-click on the image in Internet Explorer and select "View Original Image" from the pop-up menu. This will force the browser to display the original image. Check to see if any installed Internet browsing accelerators are compressing your browsing too much and causing the blurred pictures. For example, the MSN Accelerator (used to enhance the speed of an individual's Internet connection) can sometimes cause blurry images due to high levels of compression. Right-click the "MSN Accelerator" in your Windows task bar (bottom right-hand corner of your PC's screen) and set the level of compression to "None." If you are using the other browser you may try resetting the settings. Even in Internet explorer you may reset. But note that resetting the Brower may deleted the saved information like password and auto fill.

For additional help if you need please revert back with the exact details like the browesr you are using.

You may also try updating the flash player and check the operations

My net pictures are blurry

Could you post the specs of your machine? And list any internet related programs?
It is possibly an accelerator problem..
If you are using a dial-up accelerator, then it grabs images in lower quality. Try turning that off..
