Check that the IPOD is fully charged. Plug it in to the charger and you should see the screen telling you how much charge it has. Check the slider on the top of the iPod. If it's a Classic iPod there is a switch to prevent accidental turning off or on. Slide the switch to the left and try again.

It\'s just blacked out, one day is just stoped coming on, I charged it for days on USB on my PC and a wall outlet, I can\'t get it to do anything at all, I dont really care about the old peice of garbage but I want all the music off it because my itunes account got hacked and wiped clean and all that music is only on this ipod. I am to the point where I just have to realise the thing is fried and quit messing with it but I dont like being defeated by apple!

Have you tried connecting it to your computer? Download TouchCopy and run it. Don't connect to iTunes yet otherwise it will wipe the iPod if you synchronize. It's possible that the iPod works but the screen died. You can use Touchcopy to copy everything back to iTunes if your computer can see the iPod.

The computer does not even reconize the device, so your saying if it was just the screen then it should still connect to itunes? To just retrive the music on the ipod? It's doing a whole lot of nothing, just black as night no matter what i try. So since my PC don't reconize anything does that mean my music is non-retriveable? And thank you for taking the time to reply to my problem

You might like to try leaving it connected via the USB cable to the computer just in case it will charge that way. It might be a problem with the charger. Also, check your iPod charging cable itself and look for bent pins. If you can, try using another cable from an Apple device to see if it's a cable problem. I'd say there is still hope if we can reasonably assume that the memory is OK. If it's the battery, Apple do offer a battery replacement for iPods for about sixty bucks if it's worth that to you.

Ipod wont turn on

Check to see if the Hold switch is on. It's located on the top or the bottom of iPod. When it's in the on position, you'll see an orange patch.
To turn the hold switch off, slide it until you no longer see the orange patch. Press any button to turn on iPod. Make sure the battery is charged iPod won't turn on if the battery is empty. Instead, a low battery screen appears for about 3 seconds when you try to turn it on.
To charge your iPod, connect your iPod to your computer's built-in 6-pin FireWire or high-powered USB port or connect it to the Apple iPod

Power Adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet. Note: iPod models without a Click Wheel cannot be charged via

USB. iPod shuffle requires a high-power USB port to charge. iPod nano and iPod (5th generation) can charge via USB or FireWire, but they require USB to sync with iTunes. If you're not sure what iPod model you have, click here.

If you are connecting via USB and the battery is completely discharged, there may be up to a 30-minute delay before iPod powers up. Click here for more information. Reset iPod
If iPod still does not turn on or appears to be "frozen" you may need to reset it. When you reset iPod all your songs and files are saved. Some customized settings may be lost. Let the iPod battery drain
In rare cases, iPod might get into a state in which it needs to be drained completely before it can be reset. If iPod didn't turn on after you reset it, follow these steps:
Disconnect iPod from all power sources and leave it disconnected for about 24 hours. Reconnect iPod to the Apple iPod Power Adapter or computer and reset it. Update iPod's software
If iPod turns on after you reset it, use the latest version of iTunes to update iPod. b>

My ipod touch wont work

If iPod touch won't turn on, or if the display freezes or doesn't respond
  • iPod touch may need charging. See "Charging the Battery" in the iPod touch Features Guide.
  • Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  • If that doesn't work, turn off iPod touch and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPod touch for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  • If that doesn't work, reset iPod touch. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If iPod touch continues to freeze or not respond after you reset it
  • Reset iPod touch settings. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. All your preferences are reset, but your data and media are left untouched.
  • If that doesn't work, erase all content on iPod touch. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > "Erase All Content and Settings." All your preferences are reset, and all your data and media are removed from iPod touch.

To reset the iPhone or iPod Touch, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously at the same time for at least ten seconds, then the LCD display will clear and the Apple logo appears on the black background. When Apple logo appears, reset is done.

"OK to Disocnnect" message is normal; not being able to turn on or off while it is connected to computer is normal. If these problems are happening AFTER you have disconnected the iPod from the computer, then it is a problem - you will simply have to reset your player - the reset method for your particular iPod is in your user's manual - you can get this manual from Apple's website if you have misplaced it.
