Hi davidwhanson , I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

What do you mean by "keeps running"? Continually cycles or stuck in a cycle like rinsing?

Those filters don't last forever! Whenever I had that problem, I just replaced the filter. (The fresh filters also contain some kind of anti-bacterial or anti-fungal, since you're not supposed to add anything to the water which would spray into the air.) My problem has been finding new filters--does Sears still carry them? (The small one I was in recently does NOT.)

My Kenmore Ultrasoft 400 water softener tome light will not stop blinking. How do I reset it

It's been 10 years since I worked at EcoWater, but the Kenmore Ultrasoft 400 shouldn't have changed much. The brine tank light shouldn't blink at all. It should light for 4 minutes and then go out if you leave the door open if I remember correctly. How old is your softener and does it have a light bulb or an LED to light up the brine well? It's most likely a damaged control board that's creating your problem. You'll have to contact Sears for a replacement.

(EcoWater Systems LLC is the OEM [Original Equipment Manufacturer] of water softeners for Sears Kenmore, GE, Whirlpool, Morton Salt, EcoWater Systems dealers and a few others.)

Ry ecently purchased home has a softener. I don't see any model # or serial # on it. My question is how do I know if the unit is functioning ?

Is it plugged in? Is there salt in the brine tank? Do you ever hear it recharge (usually around 2 am). Does the display show any information on it (time of day, etc)?
Now if it "is" working, do you have soft water? When you run the faucet and lather up with soap, does it form lots and lots of soap bubbles?
You can take a sample of tap water to a local softener supply or one of the big box stores and have them test it for you. If you have soft water <1ppm hardness, just keep adding salt. If not, perhaps your existing softener needs cleaning. Don't let a softener salesman bully you into spending $$$$ if it isn't working. (Most softeners can be fixed with simple maintenance.)

Can u use water softner pellets direct in to water

Water softener salt is used to regenerate a water softener after the softener has been in operation for a few days removing hardness from the water. If you were to only add the salt to your water you would still have hard water but now it would become salty. Go to youtube and look up How does a water softener work? If you want to buy one go to wqa.org and find a Certified Water Specialist close to you. He or she will be one of the only 5% of water treatment people who have received formal training in how to fix your water. There is a lot that can be done to improve your water.

Brand new softner full of water

Your injector is that part of your control head that switches to allow salt brine to be sucked out of your salt tank (during regeneration) or shifts a couple of mil to add water to your salt tank to make brine (at the end of the regeneration). Your injector is either stuck or the venturi in it is blocked up with some kind of debris. Your manual should tell you how to clean it or, at the least, diagram where it is and how to access it. If you lubricate it you must use a silicone based lubricant; Vaseline or oil based lubricants will make the rubber O rings old before their time.

How to use morton salt for the pool

You need to have a salt cell installed on the system. The salt cell allows the salt water to pass over electrified plates to produce chlorine.. If you don't have this on your system do not add salt

Waterboss 93000 water softener

It most likely is due to a plugged eductor/injector assembly which pulls the salt brine out of the tank to regenerate softener. If it is plugged no brine will be pulled from salt tank during regen but it will keep filling the salt tank and eventually overflow with each cycle. Or there could be a leak in the valve causing the tank to overflow.
Here is the owners manual for your model.

I have a culligan n8 softener. Probably about 15-20 yrs old. Dont really have a problem with iron stains in the house and it functions well but would like the water a little softer.Any suggestions?

Your softener is a self contained unit with ingreidants that will degrade over time. If the unit is oversaturated it won't perform as it did originally. You can add external sand, carbon, etc., filters to help softener work more effieciently but, you may have to replace unit. You can try salt that removes iron, etc., Morton comes in green bags. This may improve your end result. It may be time to replace the unt.

Softener WG 844 needs flushing to remove dirt

If there is DIRT/SEDIMENT coming through system then you have a bigger problem. Well problems! Bypass the softener and run water into white bucket to see if it is coming from well. If so keep unit bypassed and call well man. The call Culligan to rebed softener.

Water softener doesn't work properly

Check for iron content of the water in your area. Excessive iron will clog the zeolite beads in your softener and reduce its life. You can try increasing the backwash and rinse cycles to see if it helps. You can also get an iron pre-filter for a softener. I am assuming you have either a private well or a municipal well.
