Question about Creative Labs Zen Sleek Photo MP3 Player

My Zen Sleek Photo is a victim of a soda spill

Well, I had my Zen Sleek Photo and my cell phone in my purse. Being the short-sighted person that I am, I put my half-full soda bottle inside of my purse as well. When I open up said purse later, the inside is soaked with my purple Fanta because the soda's top wasn't screwed on all the way... The cell phone and mp3 player seemed to be fine when I took them out and dried them. I had to turn them both off and then put them in a drier, side pocket, but thought nothing of it because they seemed to work fine. Flash forward to the morning after and the cell phone is still working, but my Sleek won't always turn on: the first time it entered recovery mode, it stopped and gurgled and then died. Right now, I'm on my second try and it's still re-building my library, but I wonder if there's something, anything else I can do to ensure that my player will make a full recovery. Thank you for your time!

Impurities in the soda (sugars, salt, etc...) can mess up both the electronics and the controls in an electronic device.  Getting the impurities out of the unit is the problem.  One solution I have used successfully with my cellphone (contaminated by sweat):

Remove the battery if possible (definitely turn the unit off!).  Soak the unit in CLEAN (no soap or other additives), warm (not hot) water, swishing it around gently from time to time, for a couple of hours.  If the water turns at all cloudy, replace it with clean water.  Then let the unit dry completely before turning it back on.  This may take several days, putting the unit in front of a dry air source such as a fan, shaking the unit gently from time to time (to move any water pockets around so they dry faster).

It worked on my phone, but my phone has no disk drive.  If it's not working anyway, this may be worth a try.  Good luck!

My creative software for Zen Sleek Photo won't load on Vista

Vista by default will support the Zen Sleek Photo as an MTP device, which means that Windows Media Player will recognize it as well as Explorer.

You can use WMP to sync music to it, and Explorer to drag/drop photos to it.

Hitachi microdrives

What people have figured out is they can remove the uber expensive Hitachi drives, and replacing them with much cheaper (and lower capacity) CF cards.
