SOURCE: Thread breaking.

Rethread the machine following these directions:
all machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.
Remove the bobbin case and bobbin. Pull on the bobbin thread to make sure it doesn't pull too hard. It should have some tension on it but not a lot. Insert the bobbin and bobbin case into the hook assembly and pull on the bobbin thread again. The tension should still be about the same. If it is tight, you need to look at the bottom of the pin that the bobbin case sits on and see if there are any threads looped around it. If there are , you need to remove them.
Hold the top thread , turn the hand wheel and see if the thread is catching someplace around the hook assembly. If it pulls the thread up easily, put some fabric in it and see how it works.
Make sure the thread is through the take up lever.

SOURCE: thread continually breaking in lower looper needle

I was having this very same problem with my lower looper . I had been using the one needle stitching all afternoon and I was doing quite nice stitching. then I decided to put the right needle back in and do some overlock stitching and guess what I spent the next two hours fighting the looper problem. I had completely re-thread this machine at least 20 times now. I decided to take the needle out and re-insert it and re-thread it one more time (right lower looper- then upper looper- right needle- then left needle) was careful to pull all threads to the back and under the presser foot for about 6 inches.
Held on to the thread, lowered presser foot and did the chaining stitch. BINGO it didn't break, tried it with a piece of cloth and Perfect stitches. I have a Babylock BL402 and used tension settings left to right
4-3-3-3 and default settings for the rest.
Hope this helps someone someday.

SOURCE: Bicor vx1005 ...thread keeps bunching

Try a different bobbin. Look for one that is a little narrower. I had the same problem and changing to a narrower bobbin fixed it.

SOURCE: top thread keeps breaking

This sounds like a backwards needle. Take out the needle and when you re-insert it back in, make sure that put the flat side to the back.

Why does top thread keep breaking?

Sounds like your tensions, both upper and lower are out of whack. Easily fixed if so...google a vidyfor your make/model machine on adjusting both upper and lower tensions.

Elna 6005 - I need to move the tension dial to 9 to get an even stitch. I re-treaded the machine and bobbin and it is still the same. Any solutions?

it is common when threading a machine for the top thread to get behind the tension plates and not between them
this makes it bind up on the mount bolt and gives false tension settings
even threads also depend on the bottom thread tension which is adjustable by the tiny screw that holds the spring clip that you pass the thread under when you put the bobbin back in the case
try going google --type in-- workshop manual for elna 6005 --and see if there is a pdf version available,

My lower looper thread keeps breaking. I rethread it, checked the tension and yet it still breaks.

Please re thread machine from scratch threading upper looper first then lower looper then needles also be sure needles are in with the flat back to the back of machine sequence of threading is imperative

My elna 6005 keeps on stopping ande I get the message stop for safety purposes. I have just had my machine serviced and I really don't know what to do.

Something is not quite right. Double check everything...loose needle, plug ins, threading, bobbin area for loose threads, etc.

Keep in mind that you've jostled the machine moving it from the service to your home. It could be as simple as the bobbin race being out of alignment. If nothing you do works... take it back and give the the person who serviced it the "look." and make him/her fix it.

Kenmore serger 3/4D, bottom looper thread keeps breaking, can't see where to put the thread before the last lower looper thread hole

Try looking for a free download on wiki, manage my life, or just plain google with your model number, someone will have your answer. As a last resort try tias.com or retrevo, or just plain Kenmore.com customer support.

The lower looper keeps breaking thread

Hi,...if the lower looper thread is breaking before you sew six inches or more then I suspect a threading problem. When the lower looper thread breaks, You MUST unthread the needles before you thread the lower looper. Thread the looper and then rethread the needles.

Hope that helps,
Doug

Bernina 2500DCET serger keeps breaking the centre needle thread for no apparent reason .Already had machine serviced, new needle plate didn't solve anything either. Any ideas

I have found with any serger I have used that you have to cut the looper (bottom) threads before re threading the needle threads. You then rethread the loopers.
If you don't do this, the needle threads keep breaking. Hope this helps.
