SOURCE: avg 8 removal problem....

hi iam sharu
The recommended procedure is a time consuming one. You must download the latest version of AVG from the website, and then run it.

1) Click on the following link and download AVG to your desktop

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0

2) Double-click on the downloaded file to run it
3) AVG will present you with three options to choose from. Choose the Uninstall option to completely uninstall AVG

Add/Remove Components - choose if you want to add/remove some components or reinstall the entire AVG program
Repair installation - this option repairs or reinstalls missing or damaged components of AVG
Uninstall - this option removes the AVG program from your PC

4) Once the uninstall has completed, restart your computer. You can then proceed to install another antivirus or install AVG again.

SOURCE: internet connection

There could be some remnants of settings left behind by those programs. Go to the Control Panel (Start>Settings>Control Panel, or just Start>Control Panel) and double-click Internet Options.

Go to the Connections tab of that, then go down and click the LAN Settings button. Make sure everything is unchecked on this page.

My Dell laptop running Vista Home Premium has become very slow. The tech says my "microsoft security layer" has expired and needs to be renewed. As a result there are infected files. Is this...

Microsoft security is an antivirus program. Yes, if the antivirus has expired it no longer protects the pc and it has became infected. No, it's not part of Windows, of any one of them. What you had it installed when you purchased was an reduced functionality one that was offered with a rebate and the licence for it has expired after an year.
Since the system is now fully infected you must uninstall the expired antivirus and install a new one. This one is free for home use

CRASHED DELL INSPIRON B130

As you cannot power up I cannot see it being an AVG problem although it seems strange that it happened after you installed it.

As you needed to download an anti virus prog because you thought you had some then we will presume you were on the internet unprotected. A big mistake!!!

If you have a virus/trojan stopping your system from starting then you need to download the following on another PC and burn to disc. You must also make sure you laptop is connected to the internet or follow the instructions on the website below.

If this does not work then it is a problem with your laptop.

Here's the link full instructions and download here (at the bottom of the instructions.)

Norton renewal subscription

the problem lies in the registry uninstall norton 360 then re-install this clears the reg then try your key again.

my personal View Don't use norton 360 as it will slow your system down use Kespersky Internet security this is the best one out and also use avg virus program when you switch to kaspesky internet security then remove avg which you can get a free version.
