Question about Washing Machines

Hotpoint Ultima WT721 F 08 fault code

Fault code appeared yesterday when arrived home. Did another wash, all OK until the end. End came up in the display briefly then fault code re-appeared. It was only on 800 spin so clothes not completely dry. Looked on Hotpoint website and they dont list an F 08 code. Rang Hotpoint this morning, no use at all after ages on hold. All they wanted was to get an engineer out! Machine is 5 1/2 years old so just out of warranty! Checked pump filter and removed 20 p piece. Thought that may be it. No fault still occurs. Looked on web for F 08 and get different replies, from heater & pressure switch. Had a look in machine, checked all wires, did notice a lot of carbon deposits underneath on the tiled floor. Blew down pressure switch tube all OK. Checked the drain hose from drum and can not feel anything in it. Ran a test 1200 spin. The machine appears to start to spin but does not get up to 'top' speed, it then slows and tries again until end of cycle. It then flashes F-08 and the pump continues to run for about 5 mins! Is it the motor or motor brushes?

Try the brushes first. I'm guessing the carbon deposits on the floor are from the brushes.

Thanks Paul, took them out and cleaned the surface. Its done an 800 spin cycle and no fault code at the end, just trying a 1200 cycle. The prob I have is the brushes that fit my machine look nothing like the ones on it, the ones that look the same dont fit according to spares suppliers online!!!

1200 cycle done, no fault code, so best get some brushes!

Lol wise choice my friend. Maybe if you have a shop near you that does spares pop in for confirmation of the part number then try to source it cheaper online

I have a hotpoint ultima wf860 washing machine when trying to do a wash it just keeps saying test what is wrong with it ?????

SomeHotpoint's are designed to go into test mode when the start button and the on/off button are pressed at the same time. If you are stuck in Test mode, simply hold the start button down until it comes out of test mode, then hold both the start buttons and the on/off button down until you see 'D:end' (or similar message). Now try a normal wash programme again and hopefully it should be fine. If it goes into test mode by itself, then it may be an indication that there is a real fault, or a faulty programmer board. hope this helps.

Hotpoint washer will not start when you press

Try the following, may work:
  1. Press the Start/Cancel button together until all the console Led's illuminate
  2. Press both Start/Cancel and On/Off buttons together until 'd off' appears
  3. Default screen should return and you can select a new programme

Hotpoint ultima wt721 error code fo2 showing! will not work properly!

Error code F02 means the motor has jammed, and or the tacho is loose or broken. .Check the motor hasn't jammed up somehow, or that the small tacho coil on the end of the motor hasn't dropped off (tip the machine back and it's in between the brushes - it should be held in place with a clip. If it's hanging loose it's the fault)

This fault code basically means the PCB cannot detect any impulses from the tacho coil on the motor, so the main implication is that the motor is just not running. However, because other fault codes cover most of the other motor faults, the PCB thinks the motor may be physically jammed. That is, as far as the PCB is concerned, it is supplying the motor with power, but it can't detect the motor is running. This fault is not caused by worn carbon brushes because on these washing machines, an open circuit on the motor causes the washing machine to do nothing at all. It would not fill, or empty (as well as the motor wouldn't run) although the indicator lights would work.

Hotpoint ultima super silent w f 840 shows fault 03

Code f03 means wash thermistor open circuit, this is normally part of the heating circuit, suggest you test heater and thermistos located in the end of the heater, and replace if necesscary. If heater o/k , then could be bad connection to control module, or broken wire, if still no joy, then call Hotpoint.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

I have a Hotpoint ultima wt960 with f01 error can I fit the part

Hi
f01 means motor fault. remove motor and check the brushes. if ok then fault could either be motor or pcb which is faulty.

hi, i have the same machine..i have a feeling it does this annually to make you call an engineer. to reset it do this; hold the 'start' button until all lights display, then press 'start' again. hold the 'start' and 'on/off' button together until it reads d-end or d-off. it doesnt always work 1st time so keep trying, good luck x
