You will have to find what the native resolution is on your monitor. Then you will have to go into your computer control panel under display and change your resolution to match the monitor.

Change input timing for monitor when i can't do anything

Hi Austin
it sounds as though you have a problem with your graphics card drivers and your tv will not accept the lower resolution. Do you have another screen that you can connect to prove/disprove my theory? If your tv will not accept the lower resolution input then you need another screen to enable you to sort it out. Hope this is helpful.

Can someone help me connect my Acer Aspire 3680?

Your graphics card on that should push that resolution so I would probably lean toward the tv. Try changing the aspect resolution or (zoom button) on the remote to change the way the screen is delivered. As long as the resolution on the laptop is a widescreen resolution and the same for the television. Make sure in your tv settings, that the aspect is set at 16:9.

I'm looking for a tv that will look best when connected to my laptop, i want to get an lcd tv mounted for displaying power point presentations and wanted to get your honest recommendation on brand of tv to...

I have a 32 inch hd ready tv which frankly has got no made on it.It works great on almost all laptops that I have connected to it.MIne auto detects the resolution and changes appropriately when needed.
You need to get a tv that has:
-vga compatible connections, (to connect pc screen)
-check for auto resolution
-sound input(pc to tv) which will be easiest

Dynex 19 LCD

I went over the specs of the TV.
The max input for the VGA is 1360x768 at 60Hz. Anything higher will make the TV go bonkers.
I would try to get the resolution at 1360x768, then change the frequency to 60Hz.

COMPUTER WON'T WORK WITH NEW HD LCD TV

Sounds like the PC has too high a screen resolution set for the TV to handle
Re-connect PC to PC monitor , change display resolution to 800 x 600 (right click desktop, properties, settings, slider marked "screen resolution" to leftmost side, save settings.
connect PC to TV, TV should be able to display PC data now.
Go through same procedure with PC connected to TV, move slider to 1024 x 768 posn. (depends on TV model as to what it can cope with) - *apply* this setting & see if TV is able to display at this resolution.
If it is, desktop will appear - if not, you'll get the warning box generated by the TV...don't worry, in 15 secs, the PC will revert to the old (working) setting.

Hope this helps.

Invalid format message when trying to use the RGB(PC) port

Honestly, that sounds like one of two things happened. Either the resolution of your computer video card changed or (I'm not sure with your specific TV) the TV's resolution changed.
If through the TV menus you can adjust PC resolution, I would try changing the resolutions. In the LG 47LB5DF TV, press Menu, then go to Picture, then go down to Screen. On the screen menu, you will see Resolution, Position, Size, Phase, and Reset. First try adjusting the Resolution to some of the options you see. If that doesn't work, try to reset the screen settings.
If adjusting those settings on your TV does not help, then you will have to change the resolution through the computer. Try connecting a monitor to the computer. If you get a picture through the monitor, on the desktop right click and select Properties. If using XP go to the setting tab, if using Vista/7, select Display Settings. Lower the resolution to something you think the TV will be able to handle, then connect the PC to the TV again. If you are using an HDMI connection to the TV, you may have to turn off the computer, connect the cable, then turn the computer back on with the TV on the correct input.
If the monitor doesn't show the picture or if you don't have another monitor, you can try adjusting the picture in safe mode, by pressing F8 after you press the power button, before you see the Windows loading screen. Press if multiple times if necessary. You should see a screen that gives you a few startup options. Select Safe Mode. After Windows boots up, you should still see the screen as the resolution would have been reduced. From there try changing your display settings.
Hopefully that info has helped. I noticed that you asked this question 2yrs ago, so I hope you have already figured out how to fix your problem. I simply wished to post this in case it would help you or anyone else had a similar problem. Good luck and take care.

Trying to hook up mu sharp aquos lcd tv to my dell and its giving me a error saying no signal... do i need to change resolution on tv and how..

You can get that to work, it depends on how you are connected. On your owners manual there is a pc compatibility chart that shows you the maximum resolution you can use based on the type of cable you are using to connect to the television. You dont need to adjust anything with the television. That chart should be on page 30 of your owners manual, or close to it in the back somewhere. You have to change the resolution coming from your pc. To do this, you need to go to your control panel, and select display. There you will have a "sliding bar" so to speak you can adjust the screen resolution. (ex. 800 x 600). Adjust your resolution based on the type of cable you have, and check that chart.

Lg 42PX4dv PC connection

I think the problem is the screen resolution and size of your pc is not matching the resolution size of your tv or is not compatable at the size you have it on or you may have to change to 4:3 ratio from widescreen. In your manual it will tell you the resolution sizes that you tv uses. You would probably be better also using the VGA to DVI lead, thats if it came with the tv (it does in the UK) as it supports higher wide screen resolution, whereas VGA will only support 1024 x 768 or there abouts.
