It's possible that the clutch or belt or a part could be broken,,it's would be a good idea to have the machine checked

SOURCE: can't raise bobbin thread on Singer Prelude

Make sure the needle is in the machine correctly- all the way up into the needle bar, make sure that it is threaded correctly, etc. If this all checks out ok, take the bobbin case out of the machine. There are two ears on either side of the bobbin case- turn the left one to the left and the right one to the right. Remove the silver ring, and inspect the piece of metal that the ring came off of (looks like a circle with the top cut off). You have to locate the hook which is the piece that looks like a half moon inside the big round metal piece. Locate the tip of it, turn the handwheel toward you until the needle is in the lowest position, at this point the tip of the hook should be flush with top of the left side of the cut off circle. If this is not so, your machine needs to be re-timed. If that is the case, I would need to see a picture of the bottom of the machine so that I am able to determine what needs adjusting.

SOURCE: Threading Singer 247 bobbin, no manual

Slot A looks like a groove in the front of the bobbin housing just pull the thread to the right and then to the left to get it into groove A, groove B is to the left of A when you pull it into A it will slip into B. You then just pull the thread forward and you are good to go. I hope this makes sense. I can try to take a picture of mine and see if I can get a clear picture if you still need help.

SOURCE: how to thread the bobbin on a singer simple sewing machine

Drop-in bobbin: Note: thread must change direction when entering bobbin shuttle notch. Usually bobbin will turn counter-clockwise when threaded properly.

1. hold bobbin so that the tail of thread is facing to left.
2. drop bobbin into bobbin shuttle.
3. pull thread toward you.
4. guide thread into notch and pull to left so that slot engages thread.
5. pull thread diagonally across shuttle toward back of machine.
6. draw bobbin thread up through needle plate with threaded needle.

Somethings wrong with the bobbin, it knots up on the back of material

try these suggestions
Try these suggestions
1. Change the needle--use a needle that's for the fabric being sewed
2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide
3. try a different bobbin--make sure bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, & make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case
4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever
5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads

Hand wheel won't spin?

Something is binding up inside. Clean and check under the presser foot and bobbin area. Really examine under there... look for threads wrapped around and in between moving parts. Also check in the slot for the take up lever... sometimes threads get balled up inside there can cause problems.

could also be a bent upper arm inside the machine (lets hope not) Get professional help if cleaning doesn't free it up.

I can't get the large knob on the right side to turn counter clockwise

Could you please clarify? Do you mean the hand wheel? The top one? If it won't turn you likely have a bunch up in the bobbin area.

Just for your reference here is a copy of your user manual

The handwheel won't turn all the way

Unthread completely, then take out the bobbin and clean the area. Now rethread, and install a new needle. Always turn the wheel towards you, never away from you or you will mess up your timing. good luck

Hi, I have a singer simple the top thread is fine but the lower thread bunches and now the needle broke and I can't more the wheel

A piece of that needle is probably caught in the shuttle area and your top threading was not right. Take out your bobbin and clean that area real good, then rethread. Always turn the wheel towards you. If, that doesn't help call Singer at 1-800-4singer customer service

The wheel that lowers the needle will not move forward, it will move in reverse to some extent. I have rethreaded , and pulled out the bobbin casing and no change.

Do not turn your wheel to the rear! You will mess up the timing. You have thread or cloth caught in the bobbin area. Clean your machine as per your manual.

Turned the hand wheel the wrong way (clockwise) and I threw off the timing of the machine. How can I re align the machine? It's a Singer Simple 3116 18 stitch.

I think that all you have to do is put a new 80/12 needle in,that is what they set the timing with, and clean your machine thoroughly, take out your bobbin and brush the area. I do not think that it is your timing from turning your wheel the wrong way,
