Re: router unable to acquire ip address

Who is your Internet service provider? cable? if YES then log on to userinterface using the dg address of your router  and do a pc mac addresss clone.  then reboot everything.,

If you are using a username and password for internet connection then you can use the PPPoE configuration also on your user interface.

Re: router unable to acquire ip address

Logon into your router through n/w interface first (ethernet not wireless) using the default IP assignment of the router. Now you can manually assign an I/P to it.

Re: router unable to acquire ip address

You're not telling us much. What's the OS and what have you tried? Wired or wireless? This problem is usually solved by resetting the router to defaults and starting over, following the directions carefully.

I am stuck I did the renew and got a 169. IP address but still stuck still not acquiring an network.

If you got 169.X ip address, it means invalid IP address. Please check your DHCP server configuration and also try to make it static IP.

My laptop keeps acquiring network address. Please suggest what to do ? Router --> Modem --> Desktop. Laptop is for wireless connection

For that you need to enable DHCP on router. Then your computer get ip address automatic from router.Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. or or or If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then click on DHCP enable it save settings and restart router. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Network card doesdie not acquire DCHP internet address from router. Router port and cables verified.

As you have said that your router assigns IP address to some other computer, its obvious that there can be no problem with your router.
So please try the following steps:
Goto your network adapter settings page

Select the circled options.

Provide the above settings. click ok.
Now disconnect the cable from your router and connect it back.
Everything should work fine, if DHCP is working properly in your router.
If still problem persists, then try "Use the following IP address " option in the above dialog box and provide IP as follows and try again.
Please ensure and change gateway and ip according to your router.
Gateway ip is the one which is your router ip ( the one which you give in internet explorer to enter into your router settings page)

In this way you should be able to connect to your router. If successfully connected, then it also implied that DHCP is not properly running in your router and now you have connected to router by providing an IP address manually.

I hope this is helpful in solving your problem

Same problem

Your router should be factory reset. There is a reset button on the unit that will require a paper-clip to reset. With the unit 'on' press and hold the factory reset button.

Your PC should be set to automatically acquire a suitable IP Address form the router. The router is also set to automaticlaly acquire the right IP address from your ISP. However somtetimes you may need to put in a 'username' and 'password'.

I am trying to setup wireles connection for my inspiron e1505 notebook. i am able to get the available connections but when i try to connect to the available wireless connection it tries to acquire the ip...

Something is not right with your DHCP settings in your router.
Try to assign a manual IP from TCP/IP settings. You have to change the default gateway to your router. Your DNS server will be the router.
Please rate this if it is helpful to u.

"acquiring network address" problem

The password might have been changed that's why you keep getting "acquiring network address", the password is incorrect. What you can do is just reset the router. There's a reset button at the back of it, press and hold it down for 10 seconds then release, unplug the power now for 10 seconds then plug it back in. That will disable the wireless password, just re-enable it.

Laptop can not connect to router

If you care to try, manually enter IP settings in your laptop as follows:
IP Address -
Subnet Mask -
Default Gateway -
DNS - whatever your ISP is using

In your Internet Explorer >
Tools, Internet Options, Connections tab, LAN settings button, check "Automatically detect settings", OK, Advance tab, check Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

New computer hung at "Acquiring network address"

Verify that the DHCP feature of the router is enabled. Alternately, you may want to set the PC to use static IP configurations rather than "Obtain an IP address automatically". Sometimes WinXP WiFi configuration messes connections when none WEP or WPA is used.

You may want to fix set your PC's WiFi config to IP Add:; Subnet Mask: and Default Gateway: 192.168..1 (that is of course assuming that your NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Router uses the IP add).

If this still does not work, pls post back so we can figure out tricking the WinXP WiFGi config to connect.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
