Not getting sufficient power from foot pedal. Sews extremely slowly... changed electrical outlets but still hardly enough energy getting to machine. Checked all plug-ins.

If your machine is an older mechanical machine, most likely it is seizing due to old oil that has dried out and locking the moving parts. If this is the case with your machine, AVOID using your machine until the problem is addressed or the motor could be damaged with further use.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

The other thing to check are the carbon brushes. There may be some in the motor and/or the foot control unit. Over time, these carbon brushes will wear down until they no longer make the appropriate connection. If you are mechanical, you can usually order replacement brushes for your machine for ~$15 and replace them yourself. Be sure to confirm the brushes your order are for your make/model machine.

Replacement of carbon brushes

If you have the parts, then installation is simply the reversal of the dismantle. Take photos along the way if unsure. The only thing I would recommend is to give the commutator, (the segments where the brushes rub), a very light emery to remove any arc marks that may have occurred due to short brushes. Once this is done and the brushes are installed, if you want to be pedantic you can use a fine bit of emery under the brushes and around the commutator and 'Bed' the brushes into the shape of the commutator. This is usually not necessary with such small brushes. Gently 'running in' the brushes under use will suffice. Cheers Bob

AEG Electrolux Lavatherm 57800: Push a program button, Machine starts for 3 - 5 seconds, Then stops and timer is on 0.

try cleaning the drum contact on the rear of the machine. It is a carbon brush that contacts the drum spindle. It can get covered in carbon from the brush.Remove the plastic cover containing the contact brush, clean out all carbon dust and lightly sand the drum spindle to remove any surface build-up and ensure a good electrical contact then reassemble.

Whirlpool washer model #lsr5132hq1- drum turns but agitator doesnt on second spin cycle until you give it a spin by hand. ok on first spin cycle

May be the motor carbon brushes are worn. This is usually a cheap repair 10 or 20 pounds if u can do it yourself , but disconnect from mains , take out motor , remove , replace carbon brushes, ( some motors don't have them) you can understand what I mean, my advice is estimate from local dealer but dont get conned with new motor ( I think its carbon brushes only) .

My hotpint machine will fill with water but the drum will not turn at all

When the drum is supposed to turn do you hear the motor running? if you do all you need to do is put a new belt on. if you do not hear it running it could be the carbon brushes which are cheap to replace. to replace carbon brushes buy them from hotpoint make sure for your model then open the cover at the bottom back of machine with screw driver. when panel open you should see motor. on the motor there should be white clips on each side unclip this and you have got one of the carbon brushes replace them as the way they came before you tock them out put cover back on and test it on a spin cycle. make sure machine plug is unplugged when you open the machine.
if the carbon brushes when you take them out are long they are ok if they are short you will need to replace them. if you put new carbon brushes in and still won't work then it is control panel which needs replacing witch will cost a lot. hope this helped.

Philco WD 1896 Ecotronic Electronic Washer/Dryer Machine: any ideas on why the drum has stopped turning, the machine still fills and empties with water. Perhaps a blown use? I do overload it often! Any...

sounds like carbon brushes in the motor they can be replaced as they just pop out of the motor. carbon brushes are very resonably priced so worth while to do.

Have WD63 WASHER/DRYER & the drum stopped turning. motor ok & drum turns easily when turned manually.

Could be the carbon brushes on the motor. They're usually quite cheap and easy to replace. In this area you can expect to see a lot of carbon dust (black). The brushes themselves should protrude from the case by around 4-6mm.

Could also be a loose connection between the power feed and the motor.
Will it pump? Some machines die completely when the pump fails.

I need replacement carbon brushes for the motor. I haven't been able to find a source.

Try looking for a power tool repair shop, they usually have some brushes and can order more. I have put Hoover brushes in my Shop-Vac.
Look for some that are close to matching,( spring size, spring length, brush length). If the brushes are a little large they can be made smaller by dragging on a flat file. Carefully fit them so they slide into the brushholder nicely.
I have even soldered different ends onto the pigtails, whatever works----I am a pragmatist!
You could also look for an electric motor repair shop in your area- they have suppliers.
