1994 Chevy S10 Pickup v6 4.3L bogs down in any of the forward gears but runs good in Park, Neutral and Reverse.

My 1994 Chevy S10 Pickup v6 4.3L that bogs down in any of the forward gears but runs good in Park, Neutral and Reverse. After the problem started I pulled over and had the key in the run position for about a minute or less when the ignition coil caught fire.I replaced the coil and the distributer module. After about a minute the new coil popped and smoke started coming out of it. Next I checked all my ground wires and connections, replaced the coil again along with the distributer pickup coil and the ignition switch. I checked for spark on a couple spark plug wires which I had. I disconnected the brown wire with the black stripe that goes to the distributer (at the PCM) and set the timing on zero degrees. The engine started and ran a little rough until the PCM relearned its self. This took about ten minutes. The next day the motor started bogging down just like before only in the forward gears. Why does it run good in reverse and neutral but bog down in the forward gears?

Can anyone tell me what this is. It is on a 2006 Chevy impala. It has something to do with shifting the car. Ithink it makes the box around my gear indicator work. I.E. P R [N] D 1 2

P=park gear position (no gear selected)
R=reverse gear position
N=neutral gear position (no gear selected)
D=top gear
2=fixed highest gear (used for speed when climbing an average incline and to control speed on decent)
1=fixed lowest gear (used for climbing steep incline or descending slowly)
Note-: Never engage Reverse gear when traveling forwards and never put into Park when moving forward or backwards, also towing most autos should be done no more than 10mph, fast towing can damage the gearbox, also make sure gear is in Neutral when towing.

I have a 94 s10 pickup 6 cylinder that starts and runs nice in park, neutral and reverse but Boggs down and cuts out in any of the forward gears. Then the coll burnt out. I replaced the coil and the module...

check the voltage across the battery with engine at 2500rpm it should not exceed 14.7 V then go from their ,If the voltage is too hight then this would cause problems all along the line

1986 chevy truck with a brand new trans will go into al forward gears but will not reverse?

this is a mechanical linkage system so if it goes in all forward gears has park and neutral but no reverse and the fluid level is full then you have a bad transmission even though its new it does will have to get another new trans to replace it.

My f350 w/v10 has a serious loss of power from a standstill. The engine will bog down when in forward gear. In reverse, I can spin the duallys. In park or neutral the engine seems to have plenty of hp. ...

You can spin the duallys in reverse because reverse is a MUCH lower gear. NO, there is no kickdown cable for your transmission. Your transmission is controlled electronically.
If the engine is bogging down or if the transmission is trying to start up in the wrong gear, either the check engine light should be on or the O/D OFF light should be flashing. The best course of action in diagnosing a problem with a computer controlled engine and transmission is to scan the computers that control them to check for fault codes.

if all other gears work fine then it's just a matter of changing out the solenoid that controls that gear you will save quite a bit of cash you don't have to change the whole transmission

1994 Ford Ranger won't shift into drive

In 9 out of 10 cases when I see this problem in the ranger, it is the planetary gear in the transmission. It is made of the cheapest metal available. It breaks usually from going to park before the truck stops or switching from reverse to drive while still rolling. Just a Idea , But I hope it isn't that . Reverse will work fine for a while, and have no forward gears.

also a s10 owner, my truck shuts off when i put it in park...yours is your shift cable ..adjust cable (without running) p,r,n,d and so on, making sure your indicator is in correct spot.

1994 Toyota Camry automatic. All forward no reverse

are you sure it is first gear it is making when in 1. In park does the car lock up if you try to push it with the handbrake off. If not your problem is adjustment of the cable i.e. although the lever is in reverse the gearbox isn't.
