My computer had a virus so everything got erase. Now i cant install or use my web cam

reinstall the operating system of your laptop. so that it will be a virus free. but before you do that back up first your important files in it. after the installation of operating system and the antivirus, retrieve your files. but before you do that you scan first your files for possible virus infections.

My laptop has a virus and i cant afford a virus disc

Most of the virus programs run on stealth mode and run along with some application injecting its threads into the Application threads stacked in process queue. If the antivirus program fails to remove or quarantine, this could be either due to non detection of virus code, or due to inefficient coding in the virus program to seize the operation of the Virus program and seize its operations.

In such a case it would be wise to create a onetime bootup disk with Anti-Virus program. Before the OS starts, Always perform an antivirus scan and reboot a clean OS. Reason being that when Windows OS loads the Kernal takes control of all Key operations and we wouldnot have the right privilege or access to remove the virus program. So we boot from a boot disk and run this antivirus program to remove any infected file or code from the system to have a clean OS.

Check for scratches on the media.

Also, it could be "bad" RAM in the computer that is creating "random" problems, which could be reported by the B.S.O.D.
If the computer has multiple sticks of RAM, remove one, and try again.

hi,

A Virus Would Corrupt or remove/Change drivers.
You need to remove The Virus.
You should then remove The DVD Drive Manually from The Machine.
Start the Computer without The Drive, then power Off the Computer.
re-install the Drive, boot up and Hopefully it should be detected in ( found new Hardware ) if not, go to add new hardware wizard, and see if it,s detected there. A Virus Can Actually lock-Off a Drive.

AVG 7 detecdted Virus Hurri on partition table. How do I remove ?

You will need to fix the master boot record with the Windows XP Recovery Console. To do this, you will need a Windows XP install CD.

Here are the steps to use the recovery console:

To run the Recovery Console from the Windows XP startup disks or the Windows XP CD-ROM, follow these steps:
  1. Insert the Windows XP startup disk into the floppy disk drive, or insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.

Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted.
  2. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
  3. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console.
  4. When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
  5. At the command prompt, type the appropriate commands to diagnose and repair your Windows XP installation.

In this instance, the correct commands are:

c:\fixmbr
c:\fixboot
The type exit after finishing then remove the Original OS CD.
The machine will reboot properly.

This will fix your boot sector

And All should be well
