turn on the unit and then tried to press the play button while the cd tray is in place. if doesn't work, unplug the dvd player then open the cover to access the internal part. look for a broken limit switch for cd tray mechanical assembly or check weather the cd not in proper place in the tray that is why an error occur.
Hello, if the start button doesn't responds could be that the microswitch/contact of start button needs to be cleaned/resoldered/changed. You can try to apply small ammount of wd40 on the edge of start button. In some cases helps as first aid.
Turn off and unplug at mains
Plug back in and turn on
press standby button so power light come son.
If pressing open button on player (rather than remote) doesn't work it may be a disk that is not sitting properly in the tray. You could try sliding a very thin blade (preferably something with an insulated handle!) gently in the top of the tray to press the disk downwards whilst gently prising under front edge of the tray with a small screwdriver. If you can manage to press the open button at the same time as doing both these things it may help.
If that fails to solve the problem it may be a broken drive belt or worn cogs in the tray operating mechanism. DVD players are so cheap these days that repair is seldom worth the expense.
found on mine: tray opening mechanism is belt driven, while others are
gear driven, belt tends to stretch with time and slips on motor pulley,
gears do not. Just cheap built. Remedy= Belt can be removed from front with open
tray, soaked in rubber rejuvenation liquid for few seconds, cleaned and
dried, re- installed on pulley. It works now, but for how long, I have no idea.
There isn't a way to open it by hand without removing the cover.
As for fixing the tray, there might be a few reasons why its not working. When you press one of the eject buttons, do you hear the usual whirring of motors? If you do and the tray still does not open, then the problem may be a broken rubber belt near the front.
If you don't hear the whirring of motors, then try playing the disk. If the disk does not play either, then the disk loading mechanism is out of sync and may require manually resetting it. This is accomplished by carefully pulling the spring loaded carriage upwards or downwards until it responds to the play button. Be very careful not to touch any of the exposed electrical components and capacitors, electrical shock may occur.
Press 'Disc Menu' and wait for 'no disc' to appear on the screen. Eject the tray by pressing the 'open / close' button on front of the recorder. Enter the following numbers very slowly on the remote control ' 0086000 ' Press ' OK ' button on your remote control. Close the tray by pressing ' open / close ' button on the front of the recorder. You can check this has worked by pressing ' 0009 OK ' on your remote after the tray has closed. A display will pop up on screen showing the Region as 0. This means you should be able to play discs from all Regions. If this doesn't work the first time! try again! Hope this helps!!
Let me respond with a possible solution although I'd bet that both of you already tried these.
The reason I checked into this is because I'm looking for a new mini system. I happen to be at Target and they only had 2 models - this one and a SONY. I certainly didn't want to buy the RCA given these problems, so I asked the salesperson, who seemed to have some knowlege.
As far as opening the tray on top, there is a button to push right under the tray. The button has an icon of a triangle on it. This seems to be somewhat of a standard icon for opening the tray or ejecting a CD (my car's CD has the same icon for ejecting a CD).
As far as only being able to get 3 CD's out, there is another button under the tray marked "disc skip". This rotates the tray. When you open the tray, you can only get to 3 of the CD's. When you push disk skip, it rotates the tray one position, so you can get the 4th one out. Another push and now you can get the 5th one.
Sometimes my CD changer doesn't shuffle the disks. If I only have 1 CD or DVD in it and push the tray open button, the disk stays in the unit and the tray revolves to an intermediate position. I push the button to put the tray back and try disc skip; that usually works.
If your problems are not solved per above, then I definitely do NOT want to get this.
