Re: Where do wires go?

There is a pin-out for the front panel interface in the user manual, There are pins for Power button, reset, HDD activity, and for a few other functions THIS IS NOT WHERE THE FANS PLUG IN. The fans connect to the Fan connectors, there are usually 2/3 on the board, 1 near the CPU, 1 near the memory and 1 usually close to the IDE/ SATA connectors

Click on the blue -> Global

Or copy this,

Paste it in your address bar, and press the Enter key.

Page 28 - Front Panel Audio Connector (1-18)
Page 30 - USB Header (10-1 pin USB56) (1-20)

Page 32 - System panel connector (10-1 pin PANEL1) (1-22)

The front of your computer is the Front Panel.
The area of pins on the motherboard, that the main cables, (Wires), go to, is the Front Panel header.

Motherboard as installed in computer case;
Processor to the top, Ram Memory slots to the right, white PCI slots to the bottom;

The Front Panel header is located at the Bottom/Right corner.
Two rows of pins.

(To the left of it is the front panel USB header. USB56. Looks very similar)

Doesn't show numbering for the pins. (Contact pins)
I'm going to number them for easier orientation

The pins across the TOP are numbered ODD.
Starting on the LEFT side going towards the Right;
Pins 1, 3, 5, and 7. There is NO Pin 9.

The pins across the BOTTOM are numbered EVEN.
Starting on the LEFT side going towards the Right;
Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the Power On LED (Light)
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the LED is dim when the computer is on, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for the Power On switch.

C) Pins 2 and 4 are for the HarDDrive activity LED (Light)
May be marked on the wires as HDD, or IDE.
Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the harddrive activity LED is dim when the harddrive is active, switch the wires around.

D) Pins 6 and 8 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.

E) Pin 10 is N/C
Not Connected. (Probably a +5 Volt point for the factory to use)

Have power but no display

Open cpu cover and Reconnect the RAM memory into the motherboard circuit.
Also check that RAM works fine.
If you have another ram try with it.
IF still same then you need to reset motherboard bios settings to default.
Check on motherboard you can fine 1 jumper near cmos cell set it into 2-3 pins then power up the motherbord 3 times then again put jumper in its original position.
Then all settings goes to defaults.

HI!Could you write me the graphics cards that supports the asus p5vd2-mx se motherboard?because i have a problem with asus 8800gts.when i fit the card,the pc doesn't boot up,while when i fit my old...

Its is possible that the power supply isnt powering the graphics card, because of the power needed to run the fan and gpu. It is a more updated card than the 8600gt with more graphics processing speeds and capabilities, so it is possible you will have to buy a new power pack with more wattage.

I have an Asus P5VD2-VM SE motherBoard But Cant find The Leds And Switch Connectors

The Front Panel connector is in the lower right corner if you view the MB with the CPU at the top. There are 4 pins on top of the connector and 5 on the bottom. It should be labeled F_PANEL. The connections are:

Top Row first: Power LED +
Top Row second: Power LED -

Top Row third: Power Button
Top Row fourth: Power Button Gnd.

Bottom Row first: HD LED +
Bottom Row second: HD LED -

Bottom Row third: Reset Gnd.
Bottom Row fourth: Reset

Bottom Row fifth: No Connection

The pdf manual will not allow me to copy and paste info so I will lead you to the manual so you will have it to help solve this problem and perhaps future ones.

Go to this site:

In the upper left it has a search box that says "Input Model to Search".
Type in your model number. Click on Search Info.

A verification page will come up. Click on the model number link. You will then get a small window to select your operating system. Do so. Click Search.

You will get a list of available downloads with Manual at the bottom. Click the little + next to Manual. Scroll down to the appropriate language manual. (I assume English. It is the next to last one listed.)

Click on Global (DLM) or Global or China. A download window will open. Select SAVE. Choose the folder to save it to. (My Documents will do.)

When the download is complete click OPEN FOLDER on the download window. The file should be highlighted. Double click on the file to extract the pdf file from the zip file. Once opened, SAVE it as the pdf file where you will be able to reference it in the future.

The front panel connector pinout is on page 1-35.

If you have problems, use the Comment button to reply.

Thanks for using Fixya.
