Question about Delta 31 - 735A 6'' Belt/12'' Disc 1 PH Finishing Sander

Open Question

I purchased a Delta 52-612 belt/disc sander only to find that it had some broken/missing parts. Since it is obsolete, will parts from newer sander fit?

It needs the disc table and trunions and drive drums

SOURCE: need a wiring diagram for a delta drum sander

Here's a link to the online manual.
As far as that diagram....didn't you label the wires?
Take a look here, it may help you. circuit wiring , especially the paragraph that begins: "Knowing that electrically common points have zero voltage drop between them is a valuable troubleshooting principle." Also read about resistors. That speed control knob is one.
Hope that helps...

SOURCE: New belts on drum sander shear off inside clip

Belt sander are very tempermentel and require a light machine oil (3-in-one) on the metal slides and Tension lever and springs to opperate properally, if not they will drive you nuts, it will make a big differance, a few drops will do ya, more it needed, to much will cause a reverse action and collect dust, clean areas before oiling with air preasure and fluids if needed to get rid of build up from wood dust

I went to a bearing/powertransmission supplier. The number on the belt was all they needed. Picked up a new belt for $6.50.

Mine was underpowered from the get go. I have since sold it. Keeping it well lubricated does help though.

I have lost the screw that holds the sanding from spinning on its own. I can't find the part number. Could you assist please?

I do not know if this will help because I do not know which screw you need. If you click on the link below you can look at the delta service manual parts list.

Otherwise can you be more specific on the location of the screw?

Delta disc and 1" belt worled yesterday, not today. I turn the switch on and the disc "twitches" and the motor hums. I can turn the disc by hand so it's not jammed. Belts are good. Any ideas???

the motor has lost its polarity it uses magnetic electric polarity to turn around. the fault is just as bad as a burned out motor you could have the motor rewound but it would cost more than the entire unit..

sorry
take care.

Should I buy an old Delta sanding Center? Is it wise to buy an older Delta sanding center 31-730F Not all parts are still available. They want $250.00 for the sander

If it's the kind with a round disk sander and a wide belt sander, as far as I know belts and disks are still available. There is not much else to wear out. Make sure you test it before purchase.

The belt cover that does down the front of the belt, below the table, should have an opening inside the baes/vacuum unit. Make sure this isn't clogged with buildup.
