Question about Sony VPL-ES3 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Sony vpl cx70 cover opens and closes. The green (on/off) button is blinking. After a minute it goes in standby mode. For some time the cover would just close in the middle of a movie. So we taped it, and that worked just fine. I checked all the screws they are ok. Help?

On/Standby light flashes red four times

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

I have a VPL-CX70 that has a new lamp (less than 50 hours) and the hours were reset to 0 when the new one was installed. However, today, the lamp cover LED started blinking and the projector shut itself...

The bulb is not lighting correctly.
Take out the bulb and check the connectors are not dirty and reinsert.
See if you can see the bulb looks ok, you may be unlucky that the bulb has prematurely failed (hope not)
Try again to start it.

Horizontal Green Lines!

Hi Tim

I've seen this many times. Only way to get rid of it is to replace the Mainboard.

This will get worse as time goes by.
