If this was a ball mouse the I would have said the spindles need cleaning. I think there may be a problem with the optical sensor. Since mice are 10 a penny couldn't you try another one? Also you should learn the keyboard shortcuts, there is very little you can't do with the keyboard that you can do with a mouse.

Let's use an example Debbie

-> don't know how to copy and paste

Put your mouse cursor on the d in don't.
Press the left mouse button, and hold it down.

Now move the mouse cursor across the entire sentence, moving to the right.
Stop at the letter e in paste.

Let go of the mouse button.

The sentence will now be highlighted in Blue.
Now press, and hold the CTRL key, and tap once on the c key.

[Small case letter -> c ]

Put your mouse cursor, where you want to paste what you have copied.

In your browser address bar, or whatever.

(Address Bar: The box at top that has the URL in it.
Starts off with www, or http:// )

Now press the CTRL key down again, and this time tap once on the -> v key.

c key is the Copy key, v key is the Paste key.

Sidebar has suddenly moved to side affecting size of screen. How do I return it to bottom???

You are probably talking about the windows Task bar that normally resides at the bottom of the screen:
.
Two ways of moving this task ba, to top/bottom/letft/right position of the display:
  1. Move the cursor on a blank/inactive area on the task bar, usually in the largest blank area towards the right, click and hold the right mouse button and drag the Task bar to the bottom of the screen.
  2. Go to the Task Bar 'Properties' (You can get this context menu by clicking the left mouse button after putting the cursor on a blank/inactive area on the task bar) and change the 'Task bar location on screen' option.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

I have a corded mouse on my PC which sticks and flys to the right

A corded mouse can be either an older style with a ball, or newer with the red light. I have found you can take the ball out and clean the rollers inside with tweezers, they eventually get gummed up with lint and such. If it is a red light, most often my problem is a dog hair or something blocking the light. Tweezers work.

Magnifier doesn't work

Try going to Control Panel and click on the mouse icon. Then the mouse properties will appear showing the mouse. In the left column, move your cursor over the right side button click on the drop down and select magnify. Hopefully it will now work.

I had to move the magnify function to the left button because it was to sensitive on the right.
