Corrupt Outlook Express 6 .DBX File

You might use following methods, short guide from Microsoft below and if your corruption is severe check this out Recovery Toolbox for Outlook Express

1) Identify all the .DBX files (folders) that you are going to restore but which do not exist yet on the new machine. This list of files would only include folders that you have created yourself and would not include folders like inbox, outbox, etc.
2) Start Outlook Express and create a new folder for each one you identified in (1).
3) For each new folder you have created you *must* highlight it - select it with your mouse as if you were going to see what is inside it. We know it is empty, but Outlook Express will not create the .dbx file until you do this. [Thanks to Ethan and "Biggles" separately for their input]
4) Close Outlook Express. Now you will see that your Outlook Express installation will have a .DBX file for every folder you are about to restore.
5) Now restore the .DBX files - that is you replace the empty dbx files created in 2 and 3 with the files from your backup.
6) If you restored from CD it may be that the read attribute on the files has been set. In this case you will need to ensure that the read attribute is cleared for each file you restored (right-click on the file and choose "Properties"). [Contributed by Aaron Kuhn]
7) If all is well, when you open Outlook Express now you will get all your restored messages.
If you receive a message in your message body window "cannot display folder, you may be out of memory or disk space" after restoring, then it is likely you missed step 6. Go back and ensure your DBX files are NOT set to Read-Only.

Chrome won't let me download .exe files. It says "Antivirus software detected a virus and the file was deleted." The files are NOT infected with a virus. Some exe files come from ISP, AOL, and they are...

Which anti-virus program are you using ? As this issue do not pertain to the browser rather than your anti-virus. Its quite possible that you have some infected file already in your computer. I suggest you to update the anti-virus program and run a complete system scan and then try to download the files that you are trying previous. Also check if Chrome is set as your default browser because if so it will automatically open the compatible file with it rather than AOL as you desire.

Why cant safri download this file

One of few things could be the likely cause.
  1. Pop up blocker is on
  2. Internet security settings (in your control panel) security is blocking it (try looking through those, depending on your operating system & version)
  3. Anti-virus software doesn't allow .exe file type downloads (again, check your settings. check you Anti-virus software settings as well.
More than likely, it is one of the above. Good luck

I have something constantly poping up telling me I have a virus. It says it is Smart Engine Professional assistant for Windows PC. I don't see it in my list of programs, so I can't delete it, and I can't...

I suggest you install an anti-virus program, any viruses that infects a computer can damage your computer and programs, depending upon the type of infection.
The sooner you remove the virus the better.
There are commercial anti-virus programs available such as mcAfee and Nortons.
There are also freeware anti-virus programs, I recommend AVG.
Please click on this link to download AVG :-

As soon as i try to search anything through mozilla it throws me out

This sounds like you could have a couple of things wrong. The symptom is common when you have a virus and or a corrupt installation of Firefox.

1. Run at least 2 different types of virus checks and be sure that you do not have viruses. Be sure to update your anti-virus first and then use a second anti-virus program if your AV software doesn't show anything.
2. Download the most current version of Firefox to your computer.
(I would also recommend downloading a quick use browser like Opera, just in case you need access to the net, or at least ensure that Internet Explorer is completely up to date and fully functional)
3. Un-install your current version of Firefox and install the newest version you just downloaded.

This should help you get back on track.

I can't emphasize enough about updating and using a good anti-virus program daily. Viruses are without a doubt causing more problems with software then ever before.

Go to upgrade from 9.0 to 9.5, gets to last step of install says installation file missing or corrupted, doesn't specify, when I click on ok it close window and sends me back to desktop

please first uninstall your anti virus then reinstall it and then try to upgrade. i think you use full version kaspersky anti virus. if it then give its serial key and then click upgrade from server, when you install kaspersky then insure that you are connected with internet. thanks

I learned that my CA software was not operating properly because I still have Norton anti-virus on my system. CA support told me to uninstall Norton and reinstall CA. I downloaded the Norton removal tool...

I would suggest you use the normal method to uninstall your Norton Anti-Virus instead of using the Norton Removal Tool. If you still have problems, then just reinstall Norton Anti-Virus and then uninstall using the Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel. Once you do that, then you can install your CA software. WinFax has notthng to do with your Anti-Virus not working, or your CA. The WinFax problem only is a problem because of Norton's Removal Tool is flawed. Don't use it. http:/

Internet Explorer Problem - PLEASE Help!

I recommend running an anti-virus and anti-spyware program. In the case this does not work, the next solution is to reinstall Windows XP. This problem is associated with a computer possiblly corrupted with a virus or trojan.
Let me know if you need any suggestion on anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, or any questions about reinstalling Windows XP.
Thanks, Raph30
