Question about Toshiba Satellite M35X-S161 Notebook
First, I had problem with the DCIN power Jack. when I switch on the laptop, I had to shake the DCIN jack for the laptop to boot. Now, shaking does not help. I have removed the DCIN jack and resoldered it but still no solution. When powered, fan starts up for a while and stops. Lights are on but laptop does not even seem to read the cmos.
I have the same problem with my Toshiba. Called Toshiba tech support and they said to send the computer in, as they have extended the warrany until 11/6/2007. Their thech support number is 800.867.4422

This sounds like an issue of processor overheating. While you may have initially dealt with a broken connection between the DC jack and motherboard the shaking of the unit could have caused separation or poor contact between the processor and its point of contact to the cooling fan thereby causing the processor to overheat immediately after startup.

Call Toshiba immediately. Ask to ship the computer to the depot including the AC adapter, to determine if problem lies on the AC of th DC in jack. M35X has an extended warranty until 11-7-2007.
