My washing machine will not spin

The leak could be the filler tube, the soap dish, the water valve. You have to do some detective work to figure out where it is.

Is this a top or front loader? If it is a top loader do you hear the motor run? If you do the first thing to check is the rubber driver between the motor and the transmission. One way to chek if the motor runs is to fill it with water and put it into spin. If it pumps the water out that means the motor runs. If the rubber driver is broke (happens often) it will neither wash nor spin.

If your machine fills and agitates through the wash cycle and then stops, check the lid switch.

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured TOP LOADER (such as the one you posted this question under), the model number and serial number are located on a nameplate along the wash tub rim under the lid.

If this is a FRONT LOADER, the model number and serial number will be located along the door facing as you open the door.

Does it fill up,then agitate?

Try pushing down on lid switch. common problem for these models.

I FOUND THE PROBLEM WAS THE VALVEWHICH CONTROLS THE WATER INTAKE ON THE TOP OF THE WASHER. I PICKED UP THE REPLACE VALVE IT WAS LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE WASHER WHERE THE WATER INTAKES ARE. THIS SOLVED MY PROBLEM.

First check for power. need more info as to what proceedures you've taken to make it work.

Still can have a bad lid switch/ check the plug in connector to the lid switch

The close pin most likely broke the switch. Unplug the washer, remove the screws that hold the top and flip it back and remove the cabinet. with the cabinet off it is easy to replace the lid switch. Cost should be $20. to $30.
