Question about Microsoft Office Standard for PC

# Excel I need to find a formula that will tell me how to calculate and automatically change the number of items and the left overs in singles rather than in fractions or percentages. As an example I have 235 items and they will be divided by lots of 25 so I will have 9.4 but the .4 doesn't work out to single items. The .4 should work out to 10 rather than the percentage. Can you help me?

If your A5 cell contains 235 and B5 cell contains 25 Then type following formula in cell C5 = Roundup(A5/B5,0) this will give you answer 10 .Other wise you can put formula in cell D5 as Roundup(C5,0)and in C5 put A5/B5

### What is formula to find percentage of females in my workplace?

To get around this, you can calculate your numbers as percentages first. For example, if you type the formula =10/100 in cell A2, Excel will display the result as 0.1. If you then format that decimal as a percentage, the number will be displayed as 10%, as you 'd expect.Aug 2, 2011

Excel simply divides the values in column C by the total in C11. For the formula shown, the result is the decimal number .63. Because the Percentage number format is applied to cell E6, Excel displays .63 as 63%.

### In Excel adding positive and negative numbers

Yes,

1. Select the column. (click on top of the column it will select)
2. Right Click and select Format Cells.
3. Select Currency in Category then press OK
Now just type your Numbers i.e. 571 for \$571 and -650 for -\$650 and sum using the normal way.

That is Select the Cells which you want to SUM and Press Alt+=

This will bring the total just below the selected cells.

### What are the formulas in grading the grades uisng microsoft excel

Formulas are used to specify calculations based on values in designated cells. Excel supports basic calculations as well as statistical, trigonometric and other specialized functions.

Formulas used in Excel must follow a certain syntax.

1. All formulas begin with an equals sign (=).
2. Some formulas use operands such as +,-, *,/ for addition, subtraction, multiplication or division.
For example, the formula =A1+A2+A3 would add the contents of cells A1, A2 and A3.
3. Other formulas refer to different functions such as SUM, AVERAGE and others.
For example, the formula =SUM(A1:A3) would add the contents for the range A1 through A3.
4. Formulas can be combined with operands.
For example, the formula =10*SUM(A1:A3) would add the contents cells A1 through A3 and multiply them by 10.
5. Functions can be nested within each other.
For example, the formula =SQRT(10*SUM(A1:A3)) would take the square root of ten times the sum of cells A1 through A3. When functions are nested, it is important that the number of left parentheses match the number of right parentheses.

### Writing a formula for a sumif problem

Brenda,

Your problem is not so much the formula but the cells that contain the hours for each call. Since they contain the text “hrs” (for example “2.25hrs”) this turns the whole cell to text, not numeric, which will always add up to zero in Excel. So do two things:
- Change the cells in column H (Time Spent) to numeric (2.25 instead of 2.25hrs) – you might want to change the column header to Time Spent In Hrs just to b clear
- Use this formula =SUMIF(E8:E26, 1, H8:H26)
For the formula change the middle number to correspond to the operator ID – for example for operator 2 change the formula to =SUMIF(E8:E26, 2, H8:H26)

This should do it.

### Need a range answer in excel

Yes, Concatenate is the name of the formula.

ex:
=CONCATENATE(.15*B27," to ",.25*B27)
Which would return something like: "15.1254 to 25.5514"

If you want to limit the numbers in the returned data to whole numbers, you need to add the Floor formula.
ex.
=CONCATENATE(FLOOR(.15*B27,1)," to ",FLOOR(.25*B27,1))
That would return something like "15 to 25"

### Can't reopen circular reference file in excel

1. Click the Microsoft Office Button , click Excel Options, and then click the Formulas category.
2. In the Calculation options section, select the Enable iterative calculation check box.
3. To set the maximum number of times that Excel will recalculate, type the number of iterations in the Maximum Iterations box. The higher the number of iterations, the more time that Excel needs to calculate a worksheet.
4. To set the maximum amount of change you will accept between calculation results, type the amount in the Maximum Change box. The smaller the number, the more accurate the result and the more time that Excel needs to calculate a worksheet.

### Excel formula

Hello,
The formula should go like this:
=IF(C11>40,(C11-40)*D11,0)
This one will give you the result of (ONLY overtime hours)*(hourly wage), and if there are no overtime hours the result is 0.
Now, if you need to multiply that result with say 1,5 or whatever - insert the number you need like this:
=IF(C11>40,(C11-40)*D11*1.5,0)

### Excel formula.....

Let's start with the 1st equation. I assume you want to be able to recalculate by changing the number of pages.

Put 65 in cell a1.
360 in b1
In C1, put the formula =a1/b1 that's your book thickness
In D1, put .02 for the cover
In E1, put the formula =C1+D1

Now you can change A1, B1,or D1 and the Total thickness gets recalculated automatically. Be careful not to type numbers into C1 or E1, or you lose the formula.

The same for the other equations - a cell for each number ("variable") and another cell for calculations.

Once you've verified the results, then you can get fancy and add titles above each field to make it easy to remember what goes where.

You may need to change the cell format to control the number of decimal places, or thousands commas. Right click on a cell and select format to see the choices you have.

Keep a backup copy of the spreadsheet in case someone (not you, of course) makes a mistake and overwrites the formula cells. You can also look into "protecting" cells to keep them from being changed.

Hope that helps.
