Integrated webcams are not useable with the Windows 7 OS. Windows XP had webcam software that enabled you to use the camera, as does Windows 8, 8.1 and 10. The patch to solve the issue with the integrated webcam using Windows 7 was never resolved... Not to my knowledge anyways. It would always come up with the message that the webcam was "Already in use by another program".
Send him these instructions Before you can use your webcam in any chat program you have to configure it to that program
Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.
http://www.testmycam.com/ Not working ? - troubleshoot your drivers and software - get your cam working before moving on
Working OK ?
CONFIGURE TO SKYPE Connect webcam Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start (To reboot the webcam software) - if you have been using it elsewhere the SKYPE software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly. The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted. Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software. If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.
Start Skype. On the 'Tools' menu, click 'Options'. In the navigation pane of the Skype 'Options' window, click 'Audio Settings' Run down the list setting your defaults Select your webcam as the default microphone. Make a free test call Click 'Save' In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings. This will launch your webcam Adjust quality of picture in 'Settings' Check the correct webcam is shown as default Click Save Test your webcam by making a Skype test call. Can you try to see if this TEST will find your webcam it works the video only if you have more that one VIDEO IN (for example a tuner card) you will need to select your webcam from a drop down menu.
If this will not find your webcam then its either a driver issue or it has failed on you. Sorry for the bad news if video test can find it !
You can try to download and install a program called SplitCam, which allows you to use your webcam as the video source in that program. SplitCam then allows you to use the webcam in multiple other programs.
In Skype you can select the SplitCam video source, rather than the webcam itself. Worked for me, hope it helps.
open media player then tools options then file types
check boxes for file types
if you still have problems you might need newer version of windows media.
Let me know if this helped
I tried it again with the camera plugged in (duh) -- and the driver reappeared, the microphone works fine -- I successfully completed a Skype test call. I don't understand why it works that way, but now I know.
I can use the webcam on Skype but when I close Skype and open Instant Messenger I get a message that the webcam is unplugged or being used by another application.
